I wouldn't bother spending time worrying. My site is in the same position. However it is 3rd in live.com and I get no traffic from it at all!

Google is king in the SE world.

to start working on it you need to learn a lot about it. If you have anough time do it. If you have enough money allow that to do for professionals.

if i were you I would focus on seo on google, yahoo will catch up but many have different results on each,

probably have a better navigation structure + internall linking. that would help in Yahoo!

Both of them actually use different algo to determine site ranking. I wouldn't be worry if I were you because the traffic coming from yahoo, most of the time is very less.

Did you read this post, i shared in earlier similar thread.

Yahoo's algo is based more on links than other factors.... inbound links with keyword rich anchor text will take u to the top of yahoo!! dats my personal experience!!
Sound internal linking and links from other sites with matching competitive anchor text are ur need!! ;)

I've always just focused on Google and Yahoo eventually catches up. My traffic from Yahoo to any of my sites is only a fraction of what Google sends.

Don't worry about yahoo ranking i find it pointless. I would start worrying about google trafic instead.

I partially agree on this. Don't ignore Yahoo, but keep it at a low priority compared to google.

Yahoo does catch up with your google ranking so don't worry about it too much

I also want to get the answer. Sometimes yahoo bring us valuable traffic and potential orders.
Of course, I don't have much to invest for hiring professional, so we did it by ourselves.

Here's your answer (the quick and short version): get as many links from other sites as possible.

There's more to it than that, but if I HAD to sum up SEO in one short statement I don't think I could boil it down to anything more essential.

I have a site that gets very little traffic from external sites. Has little to none backlinks yet is on the first page for a lot of keywords in Yahoo yet is only a PR 2 in google. No idea why tbh.

site is www.khmerauction.com

There are numerous other factors potentially at play here.
- Age of site
- Frequency of updates
- Size of site
- Onpage SEO factors
- Authority of site
- Competition (or lack thereof)
- Type of niche your site is in
- Keywords (incl. factors such as keywords in url)

Too many things that can affect it to be able to answer in one sentence. Without knowing the facts (or even the URL!), you can't really do SEO analysis.

Thats the thing. Site hasn't been updated in almost a year. Domain isn't too old. Lots of competition and common niche.

Site is www.khmerauction.com

Thing I don't get is I am the #3 result on Yahoo for "Free Auctions" among others, yet I am not even in the top 100 on Google. The algorithms must be drastically different.

Maybe that keyword has no search volume on Yahoo. Try another keyword.

I agree. Yahoo really values site structure and internal linking. Review your on-page optimization and internal linking, and you'll see a big improvement.

I also agree with this. My sites with good interlinking and several subindex pages rank ok in Yahoo.

Yahoo doesn't take time to rank sites I have site which is 2 months old on first page. I have also site which is 5 years old on first page...don't know how it ranks or why...but yahoo traffic doesn't pay bills...google traffic does.

I dont know what happen to yahoo but some of my websites doesn't rank well. But my other websites do rank pretty impressive. It's like 1st website will rank at google while it sucks at yahoo, and the 2nd website will rank at yahoo and it sucks at google. I dont really know what happen. After ranking pretty impressive at google, yahoo eventually follow. But now, it didn't follow.. I dont really know why:confused::confused:

Don't worry about yahoo ranking i find it pointless...

Pointless? I get 11,000 unique visitors a month from Yahoo!, versus 21K from Google. Yahoo! is not pointless.

In my experience, ranking high in Yahoo often, but not always, means ranking poorly in Google. I would suggest keeping you Google rankings, then optimize a sub page for Yahoo.

I submitted my blog in yahoo 3 months back.. But no sign of it yet in yahoo search.. But I have PR 2 in Google and getting some good traffic for a lot of keyword related to GFX, 3D , Models etc... Still could not understand what actually yahoo needs to be included in their search engines....

Yahoo is a waste of time...

Why do people keep saying uninformed things like this about Yahoo? As mentioned above, I got 11,000 unique visitors last month from Yahoo. That is hardly "a waste of time".
