View Full Version : What the 'correct' domain name can do for you...

First day. Brand new site...
http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/3890/screenhunter02aug181619fp7.gif
'Today' still isn't over yet. Not to mention the fact that for part of the day I didn't have stat counter on my site...
Also note that all the traffic is from Google. :) Amazing?
If you know what you're doing then a domain name can be the difference
between a successful and a non successful site.

I doubt that's natural organic search engine traffic if today is the first day the site is being used/fresh reg'd*... even though you say it's from Google.
*If this isn't the case, then it could be possible.

From Google...
Quick tip. You can get ANY site indexed by google the very first day if you simply submit it to DIGG...
(so you're right. like 20 of my views are from digg.) big whoop. i don't care about digg traffic.
just getting my site indexed

Digg an article first day the domain goes live/reg'd and then get 1000+ visitors from Google?? Must have been some non-competitive/highly searched keyword!
PS: Looking at this from some sort of SEO aspect, wouldn't the domain not really make a difference since it isn't type-in traffic? SEO would be more important since the traffic is coming from a search engine.

It has nothing to do with SEO. Obviously you have to have the simple things
there. Title tags, meta tags, blah blah blah. But my site is only 5 pages. There
are many other sites that talk about what I do. It's all in the domain name.

First day new site and you have that kinda traffic from Google? Being indexed is one thing but I highly doubt you got organic traffic like that from any search engine on the first day.
I doubt you even ranked in the top ten pages for your own domain name on the first day.

So whats the use of your post? Are you here to brag?
You could as well explain something more in detail what you did. Everyone can have his/her secrets and keep them to themselves, but all you said is "If you know what you're doing" and "correct domain"...Wow. You pasted a screenshot and waited for people to kneel down before their new "master". The post is of same value as is a check for $100.000 per month from adsense with no intention to give out a tip or two. Showing off is of no value to anyone.

So in one day all five page got indexed and ranked for a keyword to get that many visitors? I think you should be in the SEO business if that is how it went or did I miss the time line

No need to get angry guys. Look. I have been blogging for almost a year. I,
like many of you, have put in hours and hour of research and have worked
hours and hours a day to make way way way below minimum wage. The clues
I have given you are tremendous. I found this out on my own. I think you guys
can put it together.

and also that DOMAIN NAME plays a major role. Not to mention the fact that I told you guys
how to get your page indexed in a day...

And if I could only get the much hyped domain name that has brought loads of visitors from Google on Day 1!!!
Mind revealing the domain name - for the benefit of masses? I doubt the claims made so far, just a stat counter screenshot means nothing at this stage.

ttomp13, Do you have Analytics on the site?
Is this an expired domain? if so, does it have PR?
If not... Check you have installed your tracking code properly:rolleyes:
For the search terms people are finding your site with, where is the site placed in SERP's for them keywords?
Sounds a bit strange, but I guess it is possible. Google may have given it a burst in the SERP's like with a lot of new sites, If it is a newly registered domain with no PR, then lap it up while it lasts, sandbox time is just round the corner:eek:

Brand new site with a brand new domain. It doesn't even have an alexa rating.
It's as new as if you got on go daddy and made up your own domain name.
PS: It won't get sandboxed. It's totally legit. No black hat involved.
Another Note: Analytics is installed correctly. Again, I have been blogging for a year...
I know what I'm doing. lol

Ok, thanks for the reply, So this is a brand new domain.. nice

Who said getting sandboxed had anything to do with black hat?

OK.. so you have Analytics and stat counter! great... are they both showing the same stats?
Also, without giving away the keywords.. the search terms people are using to find your site, where is the site placed in SERP's for those keywords?
And how many searches do the online tools say that these keywords get a month?
Forgive all the questions, I just find this interesting :D

Doesn't matter if it's legit and blackhat has nothing to do with it....almost all new blogs get sandboxed to an extent because they have no trust with google.
Curious why you won't tell us the domain name...or at least tell us where you are in the serps for it. A brand new domain name doesn't get the organic clicks you're claiming in one day ...indexed or not. What you do have indexed is probably well past the 100 page mark in serps unless you hit gold with a keyword that only 20 people use.
Blogging for a year means nothing...unless it's dog years

If the key is only on the domain name, then your keyword must be frequently searched but at the same time has low competition or none at all... is that even possible??

Google give a New Content Boost to new pages and new sites, this boost helps them rank high in search results. But this boost is only temporary.
May be your site also got this boost and that is why you are getting traffic from google.

Even if you are getting those visitors now in the first few days, it'll be interesting to see if you keep hold of them. Google often gives new sites a few days at the top of the results before sending them back down.

Exactly what i was then going to say, id put money on that site dropping like a stone for natural hits i a day or so , new domain and digg will get most up there or around abouts, your just lucky you found a niche/keyword that isnt that competitive but still has good traffic, thats what you should be boasting ! the possible fact that you have the opportunity to tap into a relatively untapped resource. Everything else you've said has been done many times before its just no one see's the point in making a post about it.
BTW what tracking are you using ?

Wow, you have had a TON of visitors! I think my record high was 25 visitors in one day, and that was a really good day, lol. You have some good advice though. Whenever I make a new website I use Digg and my site is usually indexed pretty fast. I agree that domain names are very important too. I had one website that had a less than average URL, then I bought a better domain name and my site suddenly jumped up in the search engines a lot! Congrats on your success. :)

A little javascript code makes your html editable for everything, and you could fake this in 10 seconds. The colored bars and the stats. It's not really that you need time to fake these things.
If you want to be taken seriously then you would need to give a little more than just a screenshot. Most of us here know what's possible and by what means... you haven't really told anything about what you did.

I dont think this is useless at al. there are some important things to note:
Digg your site content - not the about us type page, but a page that talks about something.. You get indexed quickly and short term your rank goes up.
I have had a few sites that have been indexed well first day using a well optimised site, a nice domain name, DIGG and other social bookmarking action. A couple of less competitive, but not non competitive areas are ranking at number 1 6 months later with just a half an hour work a week.
It just depends really what everyone else is doing and on the google gods. Sometimes it doesnt make sense :)

Hi,
I got a domain name that has placed me at the top of yahoo within two weeks, which was a surprise to me. The same domain name went to the top of google for the phrase but then it was dropped by google soon after, maybe it is the different algorythm but yahoo is still at number one, google is lost on page 5!
