I've just started with adsense and get an average of about 30 unique visitors to my site a day which isn't a great deal.
How long will it take roughly before I generate any revenue from these adds?
Did I hear someone say you get about $0.2 a click? or is it less?

You only get paid when someone clicks on an ad. Ad far as the amount, it's totally variable based on the content and ads served. You could get paid $0.03/click, or $30 for a click.
Google pays you at the end of each month (when you have accumulated at least $100), or at the end of the year if you never break $100.

Is it really possible to get $30 a click?

In theory you could get $40ish... The maximum bid is $50 per click, and Google pays out 75-80% of the click amount, so...
But in reality I've never heard of anyone getting even half that, but even if they did, it's against Google's TOS to discuss it anyway. :)
The average payment is definitely on the lower-end of the spectrum.

How long do you usually wait at the end of the month? i.e. When will you receive your May payment?

Normally they will approved your payment after the 15th of each month, and after one week of the approval date, they will send the check to you.

I'm pretty new at this too. I think in May they started posting payments around the 17th for those that earned $100. I'm hoping to get my first check this month (June).

Shawn,
I've been an AdWords advertiser for some of the same content that I use for AdSense ads. So I know what Google is getting for these click throughs. Based on that, I think Google's payment to the AdSense publisher is much closer to 50%.
How did you come up with the 75-80% figure?

To sum it up:
Year end 2002 it was 88% to AdSense publisher (12% to Google)
Year end 2003 it was 77% to AdSense publisher (23% to Google)
Quarter end, march/2004 it was 76% to AdSense publisher (24% to Google)

Heh, 2 clicks a day is enough for me then, and I will get more than 2000 bucks per month. Wow..........

the only real way you can find out is by trying.

You have to give it a try. You never know till you try. I'm still kicking myself for not starting sooner. It's more than paying for my adwords campaigns.

Yeah.
that's a few days its been running and is definitely going to be worth my while.
I have to be careful what I say about it though because I never really scrutinized the TOS but just got the main points.

I started 4 days ago blocking the URL's I didn't like or did not pertain to my site and I'm seeing a big improvement in number of clicks.
Weirfire

hmmm I might do that as well. although it says if you block sites then the pay per click might go down

I'm just looking at bottom line. $ per day. What has occurred is increase in clicks.

True.
I only get 30 visitors a day so it's not really going to make a huge amount for me at the moment but we'll see what happens.

sure you are allowed, but I will report you and you will get banned :) what is the most logical exponation for that restriction by YHO?

whos YHO?
I've just been reading some post on another forum and they were saying that they spend 4 hours a day trying to get PR4 or higher links to their sites and only get about 4 a month.
that sounds tougher than those guys who sell double glazing from call centres.

I think I know the forum
They discuss it endlessly on that forum - what they don't understand is what you have just said - it is just not a cost effective way of getting links. If you have all the time in the world - fine - if you have to earn money it is a waste of time - especially when the PR value in the algo has declined!
