A friend of mine received a call from a "submission company". As a free gift they submit daily his site to 100,000 FFA sites. I verified and MSN shows BL from FFA already.

I told him to stay clear from these people and to join this forum instead.

My questions are:
What can be the dommage of having your site FFA submitted?
Is there any recourse?

Just wondering as I can be next at any time.

Thanks

Don't participate in link schemes designed to increase your site's ranking or PageRank. In particular, avoid links to web spammers or "bad neighborhoods" on the web as your own ranking may be affected adversely by those links.

I think incomming links don't hurt you, just outgoing link. If incomming link would hurt people will just submit the competing sites to ffa/etc and watch them drop.

Generally, there is no harm (and little benefit) to having a site/page submitted to a FFA. A true FFA won't be keeping the link live for very long as it will get bumped in time.

The problems may occur if the submission company is spamming human edited directories with multiple submissions. Then they will be potentially pissing off directory owners/editors and potentially ruining your ability to maintain a "permanent" link in their directory.

First of all, get the submission company to stop. Have an attourney send them a cease & desist letter if necessary. Then, if you determine that they did spam a human edited directory, you will need to try and repair the potential damage they caused with your standing there.
