Over the last 3 years our company has been fortunate enough to achieve a great deal of success in our market.

We purchased Optigold when we were a 5 person shop. Since that time we have grown to almost 250 employees. We have kept Optigold throughout the entire journey but have recently started to experience lots of issues with the system. One possibility is that we are using the system incorrectly (I am going to arrange for someone at DigitalPoint to visit us for a consultation visit). However, I also have growing concerns that we may have reached the limits of the Optigold system. I am curious if any other Optigold users are storing similiar volumes of data in the system.

We currently have:

69,000 Plus Customer Records
500K Invoice Records
2.3 million line item records

What's the file size of your largest database file?

You are definitely within the size limitations (I believe there is a 2GB size limitation, but I think that's imposed by the operating system, rather than the database server itself. So it shouldn't be an issue.

A filemaker consultant from the Moyer Group said that any filemaker file with in excess of a million records is excessive.

He mentioned something about certain functions needing to perform calculations (in calculated fields) on every record and that if you have millions of records this could cause very slow performance on functions needed to do these recalculations.

What are your thoughts?

That's true about the calculations, although there is nothing in there that does any recalculations on all the records.
