all the good TLDs are taken but i often see .NAME still available. often it's the last one standing. should i forget about this extension? i don't recall any sites i visit with the .NAME extension. is this domain a dud?

Site better be damn special if you're going to reg .name
kool for domain related websites and for name of someone, though.

I think the .names died a while ago. Unless you have a very ingenious idea, stay away from domains.name

When this extension first came out.. it was marketed specifically to the individual who wanted to secure their own 'name' into a domain. It was designed to appeal to the more non-savvy home internet user who just wanted to get their own personal or family name in an extension that was not associated with .com (commercial) .net (network) or .org (organization) etc etc.
I have on rare occasion seen this extension taken with something like what you are talking about.. but very rare.
One way to learn.. give it a shot, see how you like it.... if I recall right.. the domain registration for that extension is usually in the form of asking for your personal name for the extension.. not necessarily keywords.
good luck

I have had good luck with some of these if they fit the extension well.
I sold bracelet(dot)name about 6 months back to an end user that made bracelets with peoples names or phrases on them. If you can find a domain that fits this extension, then I think they can be good for development. If your domain does not relate well to the .name extension then I would look elsewhere. Hope this helps ;)
