I have designed a site which would be in a category with only 19 other sites. If I applied to be a DMOZ editor in that site will I be able to push through the site I have created?

Yes, you are able to list sites you are affiliated with, as long as it's a legitimate listing, and you disclose the site(s) you are affiliated with in your editor application.

Basically if you have a site that fits their guidelines, you wouldn't need to be an editor to get your site listed. I edit for them :) and is isn't difficult to get in. I wouldn't think you would need to "push through the site" if it's decent. ;)

To me it seems almost impossible...

I submitted AffiliateNetwork.com about 9-10 months ago...still nothing.

I submitted GetAFreelancer.com about 3 months ago...still nothing.

I checked them with dmoz and they are still in "que" ???

What can I do?

Apply to be the editor of the category.

I did but was not approved. My native language is swedish and that might be the reason I was denied. My english is not good enough...which I can understand. I just wish they digged through that pile of sites. :(

Apply to be the editor of the category.

I have no knowledge of your personal situation, but the name of yoru site probably scares most DMOZ editors....affiliatenetwork.com. DMOZ will not list sites that are just affiliates for other sites. Looking at yours I do not believe that is what yours is...but then again, I am not really sure what you are doing. I would assume that it is similar to a commission junction. Not sure if you site has been denied or is still in the category queue. I would post something in the DMOZ public editor forums to see if you can get some help there.

Try applying for a Swedish category:

http://www.dmoz.org/World/Svenska/

Also, if your site happens to not be in English, it will only be approved within the "World" category.

dmoz generally doesn't list affiliate sites.

you may want to read over the guidelines again.

You can list sites that HAVE affiliate programs (otherwise ebay, amazon, etc. wouldn't be listed), but if the site is an affiliate for a different company, it will not be listed.

I did post at their forum but didn't ask for a specific reason since that was not allowed as I understand the rules for that forum? They only tell you if you're still in que or not. I was still there.

That's correct. AffiliateNetwork.com is like CJ. Surely they must take a look at the site and understand this? What kind of editors would they be if they can't tell the difference between an affiliate network and a single affiliate..or a single affiliate program?

I will take a look again and see if it's allowed to ask such questions on the public forum they have. Thanks.

We are not a single affiliate program. We are an affiliate network. Like CJ, Valueclick, Adwords/Adsense, Befree etc. etc.

Most of our competitors are listed. They have a specific category for us.

You should be fine as long as you are in the right category. The editor of that category would understand that. Editors of categories that don't deal with affiliate programs/systems would not, and probably would delete it.

I will try this but do they allow multiple submissions? I've heard they might remove your initial application of you do this? Our network is both in english and swedish. When submission was made we only worked in the US. We added the swedish market early this year.

Try applying for a Swedish category:

"Live links and signatures are not available until you have 10 total posts."

Also, if your site happens to not be in English, it will only be approved within the "World" category.

OK, at least I know the site is still there.

If the site actually is written in Swedish (and you have an English version), it's okay to also submit to the appropriate Swedish category.

I post a thread and come back and there's 16 replies.

Cheers!

I think I'll just wait for a wee while longer to be an editor. The business has had a quiet spell in the last few weeks and I thought I'd try and get on with the marketing while I had a chance... now 2 jobs come through on the same day!! It's always the same!!
