Has anyone been to http://resource-zone.com/forum/ ?
Let me think what you guys think about how the editors and moderators conduct themselves over there.

I don't know about any of the other editors. I myself was just appointed editor and will do the best job that I can in the area I was given. There is a awfull lot of work for me to do in that section. I am glad I didn't get a really really big section though. If I can get my section squared away then I will likely ask for more responsibility. Only if it does not interfere with my other online ventures and home life. I have heard some bad stories of some editors and I'm sure there are more good ones than bad. Well at least I hope there are.

I once applied for editor and got denied. I am sooo glad, I would never find the time to dedicate to it, I am too busy with my sites and can't waste my time on editor tasks :D

Good :)
Now this is the real reason ppl become DMOZ editors http://www.vbwebmaster.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2084&posted=1#post2084 DMOZ is corrupt! because they cover up corruption and permit self serving indiviuals to run their directory. Shame on DMOZ for allowing this to happen. Shame on DMOZ !!!

So am I understanding you as saying that I am corrupt? And self serving? I just got in to DMOZ. The reason I decided to try and become an editor was because the section I was trying to join did not have an editor. I figured if they needed one why not me. I enjoy what I do for the people in my club and figure others can benefit from someone like me being an editor because I will stay on top of this section and keep it updated. You can say what you want but I believe you took me all wrong. I am excited to get this position and look forward to helping other Nissan Clubs get listed. I reviewed about 8 new sites today and have a long list still waiting.

How long does it take to get listed on DMOZ ? 3 months? Is there a general email addres where I can submit it or should it be submitted as a feedback to editors withing a single category?

2 weeks to 3 years.
THere are instructions for submitting on DMOZ. Follow them TO THE LETTER or you have no chance of being approved.
Club Titan - IM sure sitetutor is not referring to you.
Many editors go to DMOZ for their own personal reasons and dont do their volunteer job, still others get on a power trip, but there are good ones. Im sure your one and will remain one.

well Titan, hopefully if you spend any time at resource-zone, you try to be helpful, rather than an arrogant jackass like the bulk of the editors are that post over there.
I was rejected to edit a section that was without an editor, and they gave no reason. Left the reason portion blank. I voiced my displeasure, without becoming fould mouthed, and was quickly banned. Hitler is alive and well at DMOZ.

I have submitted several sites to DMOZ and am appreciative of the work the editors do.
It is all to easy to see the bad and ignore the good.
Thanks, editors. Your hard work is appreciated.

So, be happy with the good, and ignore the bad like it doesnt exist.
I guess you should just be happy because the bad isnt affecting you from getting listed. If it were the other way around, you might be singing a different tune.

yeah, sadly it is. As long as you aren't experiencing the problems, personally, it is easy to pretend they dont exist.

I have a deserving site I can't get listed. I did not say things were Idealic but I do appreciate those who do a good job.

you also have to remember some categories are 'dead'. Editors have abandoned their posts and so it takes the above directory's editor to approve sites.

When AOL gets wise they will fire ALL of the editors, replace them with an automated system that will allow the USERS to vote on the best sites with a rating system that will also allow them to rise and fall depending on those votes.
If a site falls too far it should be delisted, this is a MUCH better and more fair system, only one vote per year per IP would be allowed also.

I've had some good experiences with editors (and some bad). I personally am grateful to the people willing to spend the time pruning that directory. Sure, there's always bad apples, but that's life right?
As for getting into the directory, sometimes it's worth sending the editor of a category a very friendly message. Don't ever get angry at them, it will never help your cause :)

As stated before I would say why complain to the editors, just go directly to AOL and maybe then at that point they will move to stop all this corrupt censorship.

Err, no. Just be nice. :) They're volunteers and you're not paying them to review your site, so there's no point in sending angry messages. Lots of thank you's and I love you's are the order of the day ;) hehe
