$75 Fat Boy Magazine Logo Contest

The site is a guys site. Hot chicks, humor of all kind, MMA and sports discussions, gadgets, movies etc...

Design and Mascot:

Details:
As you can see, the mascot is already in place. I need a logo to go with it. I'm thinking "Fat Boy" to the right and "Magazine" under "Fat Boy". Something like that. Use your creativity.

I'll also need the logo with the mascot outside of the design so I can use it else where. You can find the mascot by itself below. I'll like it big enough so I can do many things with it but it also needs to look good small to watermark a picture with it.

@ Revamped Solutions I like it a lot - but I'm not sure if it fits. The red should be changed to use the red used on the site and maybe - I'm not sure - something that makes it so the mascot and logo look like 1

@ inzpiration This is kind of the type of logo that I'm looking for but isn't quite there yet. I think the words might be to small compared to the mascot. Maybe make them bigger and not so shiny. The red should also match the red used on the site.

@ the_indian The concept is cool but thats about it. Its just text. Something more custom and different font.

To EVERYONE else (I don't feel like saying the same thing to each person) Not really what I'm looking for. The 3 entries I specifically mentioned above should give you a good idea of what I'm looking for. Make sure to use colors that match. Blue and green don't match. I like it clean and simple yet really really cool.

Uh, I have a question or several because I was considering entering this contest until I read your comments. But you specifically mentioned in your first post to "use your creativity". When you make a statement like that it means you're open to other ideas than the one you presented. So it's shocking you'd comment on Jokerlilia about "you moved the mascot (its already in place) when you stated in your first most to "use your creativity". So do you want designers/contestants to use their creativity to the fullest or not? Or you want them to partially use their creativity just as long as the mascot is not moved? But it would seem you'd want full creativity because you made this statement "I'll also need the logo with the mascot outside of the design so I can use it else where." So do you not want that anymore because you told Joker "you move the mascot (it's already in place)? It's like do YOU even know what you put in the first post?

You see, Nando, these are things you should have been absolutely clear on in your first post. And as far as the colors you comment on for those who use blue that that the blue was pulled from the jeans the mascot is wearing, the white from the shirt and the black from the hair but you state "the colors don't match". It's like WHAT?! If there are specific colors you want for specific elements then you need to state that to the contestants instead of saying "the colors don't match" when in fact they do because the colors are all in the same colors of your mascot. To say it doesn't match is to state your mascot doesn't match because it's quite evident where the colors were pulled from.

And your comment on green and blue doesn't match for another contestant -- yes those two colors do match each other. You know, Nando, I was interested in joining your contest but it appears you don't even know what you want and putting fabulous designers down because YOU don't know what you want or are flip-flopping and not just outright revising your first post to state the specifics of what you want. And if you know what you want NOW after seeing what people have done using their creativity as you invited and welcomed them to do, then specify it instead of wasting the designers' time.

If you want red text then you should have stated it in your first post. If you didn't want the mascot to be moved then you should have stated it and then typed "however please use your creativity just keeping the mascot in place". You want a great design that's perfect to your specification aside from the ones already presented on your thread, then do yourself and all contestants a favor and be specific of what you want and don't include "use your creativity" when in fact you don't want that.

And another thing you made another comment to another designer about someone's submission just being text (I believe you stated that to the_indian). Well the mascot is already created. So if you don't want people to move the mascot around and add decoration to it to tie it in with the text you wish, then all you seem to really seek is going to be just text added to the logo whether it's custom font or not it will still be JUST text.

It's frustrating seeing such great designs that are in fact in line with your first post and you tell designers it's not or say something doesn't match when it does. It's like what is it that you want? Be specific and state it clearly without contradiction and maybe just maybe you'll finally get what you want. I'd gladly enter your contest if you can do that. If you seriously have a problem with the way the contest is going you could've simply PMEd me or not posted. I don't appreciate you publicly disrupting the contest. As for your complaints, I can see where you're coming from but they're not necessary, no one is forcing you to join. I really wasn't going to address your complaints specifically, but you’ve upset me and I can't resist.

In the initial post, I state "As you can see, the mascot is already in place..." If it's already in place, should it be moved? No. Since the mascot is already in place, when I ask contestants to use their creativity - I assumed they understood it was with the text only. Regarding the logo outside of the design, it will be the same logo used in the header - so I'm not sure if you know what I put in the first post. I'm not going to use 2 different logos to brand the same site.

When I say, I don't want just text - it means just that - I don't want just text.

There are plenty of other entries that have customized and creative text but when an entry doesn't - I call it. Simple.

Yes, green and blue match each other but do they match the site? No, they don't - at all. Is any part of the site blue or green? You say yes because of the mascot's jeans... no. The jeans on the mascot are just that - part of the mascot. The mascot is kind of its own entity - adding some customized text that matches the site would give you an end result of a logo. And lets be honest, would a blue and green logo look good on the site? No, not at all.

I know exactly what I want and I’ve explained myself. Maybe I’m wrong to assume that a designer should know that the logo should match the site. Maybe I’m wrong to assume that a designer would know not to move the mascot when I clearly state it’s already in place. Maybe I’m wrong to assume a designer should put in more work then just pick a font and type out the site name. Or – maybe I’m not wrong to assume because when a designer enters a contest with a good entry they follow everything I’ve said with out the need to spell it out or elaborate.

At the end of the day, I’m holding a contest for the best logo I see fit; one that will obviously look good on the site and work well alone. I don’t think that’s too much to ask for.

@ hayshn Thanks for adding to the design. I do like it - but I'm not in love with it. Try giving the words a bg or something to make them stand out more. I think the colors might be to light against the design. Also, if you don't mind, use the whole design next time so I can get a good feel of how it will look on a full page.

@ xaralee' This is what I'm talking about! Few things though, I don't like the grungy look, make the words clearer without missing spots. The reddish orange ain't doing it for me and I don't think it matches with the site. Try using the design next time. When you use the design, do not put the border on the mascot, just on the text and have it start from behind the mascot a little. For the logo by itself, have the border on the mascot but make sure the colors are the same for the one used on the header.

@ nickharper Thanks for entering. Both seem to plain and I'm not liking the fonts. Something more with a magazine feel.

@ xxxplatinium Not really liking the font and/or the colors. The logo should match the side design not the mascot. Thanks though.

@ the_indian This really as a magazine feel to it. I think its the font used for magazine. I still don't like the other font though. Maybe try connecting it to the mascot a bit...

Whoa! Thats real nice! Can you move it to the right a bit so the F and the M are not covered that much. Also for the E, leave the white bg as is, but make the black bg straight like the Y.

I'd also like to see it on the whole page design and by it self. Thanks a lot - the logo rocks!

@ xaralee That seriously looks great! Just a few things. Can you make the red (on FATBOY) a bit darker on the top - I like the gradient to it - just a bit darker on top would be great. Can you make the black (on magazine and the shadow) a bit lighter like the nav bar. Last thing, can you make the top black shadow and gray bg not follow the letters (FATBOY) and make it go straight across. Same thing for the E in magazine.
