Take a look at the blog post titled "Yahoo looking for a new direction" in the first sig link. With the mergers out of the way after the board was re-elected, which way will Yahoo go to recover its value? With the most page views in the world and a user friendly search engine with half a billion users worldwide will Yahoo still flounder in the markets or will it recover?

There is one direction Yahoo is going all right and that is down. Their Serps are crappy and irrelevant and as a company they have lost focus and are counting the days till they capitulate.

They should have accepted Microsoft's deal.... instead of crying to Google.

Yes, I agree with random.1324. They should have accepted Microsoft, a lot of their investors (like me!) where really hoping they would accept Microsoft's deal, It would have made me a very happy man, with a lot of extra cash in my pocket :p

It was a reasonable deal at the time. I guess Yahoo believes in its company, and has every right to. They have great service, they have to make the right choices to catch up to Google.

If they merged with Microsoft they could have become greater than Google.

Microsoft and Google would have been some head to head competition, it still could be soon because Microsoft looks to be itching to getting into the search market much more.

I thought microsoft was going for a hostile takeover? Why is it they are so against aquisition by microsoft they were offered a great deal.

It seems like Yahoo was or is concerned with the company's beliefs and values as a company. Microsoft was probably going to sell all of its services except for the search engine and perhaps email.

I don't like yahoo that much, I only use it for news. I hate msn, its hard to use and I don't like the interface at all. If you put the two together I don't see how it could get better for the user. The stock would probably do well for a while though.

Yahoo is gone, it will take a miracle or atleast some time to bring them back up.

I had a dream i got to take care of the company hehe and i had to bring it back :D ...but it would never happened.

What make you say that? I see no reason why it would change things around so dramitcally like that. I just think theres a 'stigma' attached to microsoft aquisitions as microsoft is a known monopoly.

Microsoft was really interested in the user base that use the search engine, emails. Microsoft has a lot of the same services that Yahoo has. Some are not as good as Yahoo's. Microsoft would have incorporated their weaker services with Yahoo stronger services and vise versa, keeping the Yahoo brand name going and building Microsoft's services. Microsoft was rumored to have talked with News Corp.'s Myspace and Time Warner's AOL to enter into the negotiations which refers to a buyout of Yahoo and splitting up the services between them.
