I guess it depends on what you intend to do with your blog, how you promote it, and how much traffic/readership it gets. If you get a big following and have a lot of traffic, I suppose any adverts, adsense, or other links out of the site will be hit from time to time. Other than that think of it as just part of the bigger picture. Another suplimental content generator.
Good luck!

My main intention is to provide my empowerism downline members with support and resources that will help them to succeed. This way, I would be more successiful in empowerism as one of my main income earner.
Maybe, since I will be talking about only one topic in this blog, I would rank high in search engines for that particular search.
Any Input?

I started a blog few weeks ago targeting empowerism as the main keyword. I have realized that is ranks in the first page in google if you search empowerism with english results only. Seems blogs are nice for SE traffic if targeted. see http://empowerism-blog.blogspot.com
Any input here?

I think I'll make up a word so I can have the top ranking in Google for it.

it sure sounds like a multi-leve marketing program... this empowerism thing...
but coming back to the topic, to me, blogs are just like any other sites that are powered by some type of content management script - it's just that blogs contain your views/journals of what's going on around you...

Haha - that's pretty funny david...
I wonder how long it will take before the pages on that start to get hit by the G Dup content filter (As the posts are short)...

I've taken a subtle approach with my blog, and made it entertaining at the same time.. Hoping that it'll generate some traffic and backlinks at the same time. I've seen a few other competitors start blogs and just overload it with links back to their sites, but I can't see how that's safe.. Seems like it's just waiting to get caught by Google. I dunno.
http://clevernamegoeshere.blogspot.com is my foray into the blog world.

I'm finding blogs are great and actually have some very useful purposes.
They are like a notebooks/journals that your dog can't eat, and so long as it's not running on your PC it takes effort to delete or spill coffee on and ruin.
I run several, one for keeping records of changes I've made to websites, others for keeping records for my various hobbies, and my more public one just for goofing off, ranting about this or that, sprinkle in a link here and there to a buried page that the SE's should index for me, I think the whole idea is to keep it fresh and entertaining, even if it's only yourself that's being entertained.
Even my wife and daughter have their own for...... whatever it is they do with them, kinda like a gal's purse, i'm afraid to look in there.

Cartman - that's a good approach. ANY time you overload keywords or links - whether its on a blog, a website, your own 'directory' or whatever... you run the risk of getting the ol' stinky boot. I've 'tested' things with a couple of junk sites and have found that it doesn't take long for you to be found out and in the end, it's just not worth it.

A blog can help increase SE traffic if you use them well...
Blogs are quick to set up, almost instantly SEO'd and mostly free to set up, so if you think about it like that, then they're a real quick way of setting up new sites really quickly and cheaply (Heck, you don't even have to design a layout or anything).
But blogs aren't by any means an easy road to SE god-likeness. ;)
If you write lots of content, submit to all of the blogging and syndication services (MyYahoo!, technorati, blo.gs - Anything you can think of), then you can develop quite a bit of traffic, backlinks, and more repeat visits (Think Syndication)... ;) :)

To make a good blog takes more dedication then I thought.......you can see the difference of a site with good content and no content. Basically the advantage of a blog with alot of content is unlike regular websites you don't have to search hard for the content your searching for. Blogs are also great for linkbacks and don't require a proffesional webmaster to maintain which means people with great content can now put it on the internet making it that much better.

What's interesting is watching what adsense does by reviewing content, the ads change almost daily because i've been posting just random this or that, but on the same note I've figured out some big keywords to drive some some higher paying ads to display as well as stuff that will draw nothing but PSA's.
Maybe I've just nuts but it's interesting to watch and see how G reacts to certain keywords.

No Kidding there... I spent about 5 minutes there... more than I spent on any site today.
You will get a lot of traffic - I can relate to your blog and it serves a purpose, I will let you know what it is when it comes to me...
Hope it ranks high on the SERPs :)

No time to lurk. Got totally sucked in too. :)
I have been totally immersed in my new Affiliate Marketing and SEO blog network, ALL biz, ALL for traffic. Never even considered how sticky a blog just for fun would be. Wow I could have fun with a blog and also get traffic. I think I just had a light bulb moment. Thanks dude! :D
