I've just noticed the new blogger comment sytem

more over at http://preview.blogger.trakhelp.com/bin/answer.py?answer=1082

and I think it will attract more comment spam. Before when you selected 'anyone can post' only two options were shown; 'Anonymous' and your username.

Now there is an option to sign in to blogger, post anonymously, or post as anyone where you can enter your name and a website address. The name is then linked to the website in the comments section, and therefore in my opinion provide easier exposure to spammers.

What do you all think?

It's possible that the name links will use rel=nofollow by default. Also, since you have to sign in to post with a name link, blogger could delete accounts guilty of automated comment spamming.

I appreciate the ability to leave a real link back to my site when I post a comments, so I hope they just rely on the second option.

I had exactly the same thoughts, piniyini, and yet I don't see any rel=nofollow in the source...

It seems strange that blogger have themselves used a number of systems to combat comment spam and then they do this. If it does allow linkage then it's a puzzling development  All will become apparent soon...

Nice goat BTW ;)

I was thinking maybe we should do what blogger does, add the following to a link

http://www.google.com/url?sa=D&q=http://www. url goes here

that appears in the comment section - easily done by editing the blogger template.

I dont see no rel="nofollow" to the link tag either, maybe someone should send them an email and hear what they have to say?

I've got plenty more where they came from (that one was taken while I was on a motorbike that's why its slanted). I've been meaning to put some pictures up on my blog since I got back but can never find the time, couldnt get gallery.sf.net to work either because my host has disable the exec() command so thats a bummer.
