awstats fails me, what should i use?

Hello.

I own an imagehosting site and now it's started to go really great i have a problem with Awstats that i currently use to check my daily traffic. the problem is that when people link a thumbnail on a forum and a user click it, it's not registerd into awstats as a person coming to the site. as a test today i posted an image on a popular forum and the image now has 600+views wich means 600+ people had to visit the site to se it. now, in atstats it however say this under "links from an external page"

Why is only 2 visits registerd when over 600 people have come to the site to view the image from that forum thumb?

should i change stats program?

I believe you misunderstand the stats. How do you know that 600 people visited your site because of this image ? They can view the image on the forum without visiting pages of your web site.

Also, if the image is in a forum, it may appear in several pages with different URL's in the forum. You probably need to add all referrers from the forum to get the complete picture.

Hey there :)

I know that 600+ people visited it because the counter for "views" dosent update if the image in question was viewed as a thumb on a forum. It only updates is someone "clicks" on the thumb and actully visits the page where the image is located. Ie by viewing the example thumb i added in this post the "views" for it is not incressed until you click it. and becuase i know this those 600+ people that did click the thumb from the forum to get the counter to update did not get registerd in aw stats as visitors from that page :/

The URL of the image in your post is http://imagefrog.net/out.php/t1417_dollff.gif. Every time someone views this post, there is a hit on http://imagefrog.net/out.php/t1417_dollff.gif without visiting any page on http://imagefrog.net/.
