there are many good books around, even free ones. One that I found to be instructive is http://www4.dogus.edu.tr/bim/bil_kay/prog_dil/c++/index.htm It's oriented towards C++ but you can find some good general info in the first chapters. A nice and easy SQL tut can be found at http://www.w3schools.com/sql/default.asp
You should be about to find many resources about this subject, just search.
