and i bought say 5 different 6PR backlinks for each one paying monthly for the link.

after a few months of paying for these backlinks would the sites become self sustainable at a high page rank?

Nope.....if you stopped paying and they removed the link, you'd probably lose your pagerank at the next PR update.

But, if you continue building a lot of links (http://linkbuildingbible.com), you'll definitely increase your pagerank, and that will be sustainable, because they are free links.
