For r-fh.com...I am not sure if you are aware, but their are scrolling text boxes on top, and on bottom of the login. I would get rid of those. If you really like them maybe put 1 at the very bottom of your page. The other problem I saw was by accident. I accidently scrolled down, and thought I saw a forum. It kind of was, but it wasn't. It was not intuitive to scroll down. I think you need to make it clear to visitors what your site is about. Maybe by moving one of the text boxes, and replacing it with a site description might help.

I think you have the elements you like on the site, I would just start moving them around. A new visitor knows nothing about your site. How are you going to draw them in to find out more?
