I am furious on Sedo. I was negotiating for a domain through sedo, almost thought I got a deal (I was buyer), than at the end the guy sends it to auction.

THIS SUCKS. Now whole world is looking at domain I want to buy. SCREW SEDO. I am furious, I will never use them to buy domain again.

Lesson learned, now I see why others use godaddy to negotiate, although they are slow as hell. I will from now on contact the person directly.

unfortunately you're right.

domains on sedo auctions often sell much higher than anywhere else. sedo advertises domains on auction like crazy so they can receive the 10% comission.

When a domain sells for $1,000,000 they make an easy $100,000.

Aye, but for the seller it isn't so bad. :)

Of course, for the seller it's great. But as the buyer I have learned a lesson, never again. Why would you want to use a service that screws you and sends the domain for the word to bid on it? Now I can only hope the auction doesn't go to some crazy amount.

Thats why I prefer to do off site sales. Just makes things easier

I had the exact same experience on Sedo. During negotiation, you must be very watchful of the wording used by the seller. Sedo support will remove it from auction, so they say, so long as the thread shows an unarguable commitment from the seller at a particular price. Im my case it was somewhat arguable, so I lost the argument.

i am a domain newbie, and no experience with sedo on domain auction.
Godaddy seems not bad for buyers although you need to pay before bidding a domain.

I cant stand sedo. I had probably 40-50 domains parked with them and they always gave me trouble negotiating with buyers and allowing me to auction certain domains. Then one day I log in and am banned. No e-mail, no reasoning. I sent a few emails and they never responded

ive sent domains to auction, if you're getting a cheap deal pice may go up, if youre paying end user prices, likely not to get any more bids, especially in this market.

I have to agree sedo is great for selling domains, but I wouldn't even consider buying through them. The whole auction after an accepted offer is just silly and It wouldn't surprise me to learn that theres allot of shill bidding going on there. The whole process of an auction can lead an inexpierienced buyer into spending alot more than they originally planned, especially with a well placed shill bid in the final minutes. Just when your about to begin celebrating your victory, emotion is high, adrenaline going... If you've got a domain to sell on the other hand they are your best friend.

I don't like Sedo... I prefer to do face-to-face trades. However, Sedo does provide a popular selling interface. If you're buying and aren't looking for particular domains then ya GoDaddy.com is the better choice. They'l make it simple to complete the transaction and in a more secure environment.
