Hi, a friend of mine has asked me to teach him PHP. I have advised him that the best way to learn is to study books as someone can't really teach you. This however is only my opinion and i probably gave him the wrong advice.

Therefore I am keen to know:

1. what do the PHP experts here believe is the best way for a person to begin learning PHP

2. what book they would recommend

Please, the more advice/opinions the better even if there is repetition among the posts, thanks in advance

start by making little scripts , u wont be learning something if u only read books because you will forget when you close the book .

when you practice and write codes its where you start learning from your errors ;)

Yeah, I agree. Set him a project that will develop the basic skills. Calculations, Loops, Conditional Statements, String manipulation, Bla bla bla
