I suddenly started getting too many hits from Stumble Upon.
Two days back I was not getting a single hit though i created account a month back and stumbled my site, since yesterday evening I have got over 100 hits and analytics is showing StumbleUpon as source.

What could be the reason?

This has happened for another site of mine too.

Thanks

obviously one of your page got stumbled. It will stay for few hours, may or day or 2. But don't expect too much return from it

stumbleupon is good, actually I am using it too and it really gives traffic.

And I agree to posiedon it does not last that long.

But some ad network won't accept that type of traffic ?

Like Adsense because it won't allow auto surfer program..

let me know am i correct or not ?

Sounds like people took notice of your site when it started coming up in stumbles. Also sounds like everyone is down on StumbleUpon because the traffic is not targeted enough. If you are not already, try and capture some email addresses, newsletter signups, anything you can to make use of this surge.

Yes same thing here the traffic increase is huge in the hundreads but in terms of ad revneue it is very minimal

Getting one-time and sudden traffic is what Stumble Upon can give you. On the other hand, you hardly get any consistent traffic from them.

Stumble is a good source of traffic, but people who use it don't click ads so you may not see any boost in revenue

don't worry it won't last long, the first time I used stumble upon I received about 700 visitors in like 5-6hrs. To tell you the truth I was amazed, till this day I have not managed to replicate that effect so, I guess I just had a lucky streak that time.

PS: Got a couple good clicks on my PPC ads that day, so traffic quality from stumble upon is quite good.

StumbleUpon is a bookmarking site, go to www.stumbleupon.com register for an account, and download their toolbar. It's an awesome browser toy and a good way of getting some quick traffic.

I got about 300 visits in 36 hrs and today everything back on track. No visits from sTUMBLE today so I assume it was like tsunami came to my shore and went back. So far no sales or leads received.

Hhehehe I'm glad how you described that "tsunami" effect.

I do hope that you finally get some sales/leads in the near future :)

You have been stumbled...

However bounce rate is pretty high for stumbleupon traffic (usually 99%+) so don't expect any sales or leads from it.

stumbleupon is good to get noticed about your existance... it is a quick service bringing visitors your site. And to be frank when is get stumbled i get more revenues compared to other days on my sites. not dramatic changes though :)

SU is good for one thing and one thing only....TRAFFIC. Back in the day when you use to be able to pull thousands of hits a day from using SU bots the conversions were still trash. However, I do think SU is do follow now so consider that.

You can't have "too" much traffic. But the SU traffic is very untargetted and does not convert... ever.

SU is not dofollow.

I stumbled my new site yesterday and got 274 unique visitors in a day.
Now the traffic from StumbleUpon has gone

i guess 99% of the ad networks wont be happy with such kinda traffic.. you better do something abt it. it also eats away bandwidth doin no good to your site

SU traffic is crap. I got 800 visitors in 2 days but still $0 earnings in my adsense acct. or maybe i`m just unlucky ? :)

ps. digg traffic the same

yup, that's certainly my experience, getting stumbled increases traffic temporarily, but you don't get the corresponding increase in sales.

Usually happens a few days or hours after you submit it. I've had it happen on a few sites I've created. Always worked to help up my userbase a bit.
Just be happy ;P

wow lucky for you! ive never had any traffic from stumble. its just kinda exciting to see lots of traffic especially if you are new to blogging. i know that targeted and consistent visitors is what we want. but still, its cool.

stumbleupon is good, actually I am using it too and it really gives traffic.

The problem with stumbleupon and other social networking traffic is that much of it doesn't convert. It's pretty low quality traffic. However, the upside is that often you'll generate more high quality links back to your site from someone who stumbled yours. These high quality links generate small amounts of very qualified traffic that has a high conversion rate...and of course helps your SERPs.

So far no leads, no questions from users who visited, the average time of visit was about 30 Sec. so I am not hoping much from those visitors.

I stumbled a joke yesterday on my forum, which turned out to go pretty viral. Made my thread 5 stars on Stumble and got me 1000+ hits until the people started pressing thumbs down. Died down now after 3 days.
