ok here's the deal

I have a site thats PR8 with 36 000 incoming links

a friend of mine has a pr7 site with 5000 incoming links

on the front page of my site I have a link to a pr6 site which has little return value for me because its pr6 and the page is littered with over 50 outbound links, which I plan to remove and in return link to my friend's PR7 site.

In exchange he will provide me with 2 pr7 links , one to my pr8 site and another to a blog that I have set up to which I will also direct 1 x PR8 link which will then point back to my PR8 site.

Is this a sound plan or not ?

please give reasoning because I need a business justification

much appreciated!

You seem to gain.

Thanks for the reply, so are you saying that 1 pr 8 link in exchange for 2 pr 7's is a gain and not a loss ?

Can anyone substantiate this?

PR is not the only measure ?

I would take a relevant 1x PR7 links over a non relevant PR8 link.

Reciprocal link, in my opinion, are of little value. You should link site together without having reciprocal.

Your plan sounds good but there are other things you should consider besides the
pr of a site. How much traffic does the site get? Is the site relevant to your site?
If you are getting a backlink from a relevant site with decent traffic then the link
is valuable regardless of the pr.

If all you care about is the PR then do the deal. If you're interested in SERPs then you need to worry more about whether or not the site is related to yours.

You forgot to mention I key value when it comes to PR, outgoing links. Outgoing links from a single page dictate by how many pages will the PR juice be distributed.

If you're only looking at PR, and increasing your PR than you stand to win because you're getting 2 PR7 backlinks for one of your PR8 link. If you link to your new blog both from the PR7 friend's site and your PR8 site than your blog will get some good PR on the next update.

If you're doing SEO professionally then it all depends on how relevant the links are and the site's rating in the SERPS which is a totally different thing from PR.

Dear rushza........

The term PR is Not a complete thing in link exchange..... You have PR8 site and you link exchange with PR7 and all... these things are fine!!! But are you looking the sites quality other than PR which you had exchanged links!!!!

While Link exchange, prefer two way link exchange to same theme.... with out having more than 20 links!!!!

itz better to avoid 3 way link exchange (Max)
thanks
