Hi everyone,

I am brand new to the forum and brand new in the affiliate world. In fact, I have just started last nite putting up an google adword for one of the products through clickbank.

I am just wondering, it is more advantegous to start a website with a theme than doing just the adwords without a site?

I have read Rosalind Gardner's Super Affiliate Handbook and getting ready to try out the affiliate marketing world.

Would be in the forum hoping to learn all I can :)

Thanks!

Thanks :-) So it's not good to just promote products including the ones in clickbank without your own website then? I am fairly lame with this... brand new :-)

Im assuming you meant put your affiliate URL as the URL for your adword ad? If you do this you need to add 'aff' to the ad I think.

It is very difficult to earn enough cash uses a "Pay-per-click" advertising and an Affiliate program. I've tried using it here...
ThinkBling.com (http://www.ThinkBling.com)

What works much better is to get a lot of content or offer something. Think Bling gives away the very Amazon Affiliate PHP scripts that it runs along with a couple other scripts. Think Bling also hosts a small forum related to the scripts given away there.

Unless you have something more to offer, you won't get to many people covering your costs of advertising.

As mentioned, AdWords PPC ads that contain an affiliate link do need to disclose that the add is an affiliate (adding "aff" to the description). You will need to find a product that has a high commission and a low CPC in order to make it work. Otherwise, the margins will be insufficient to cover your costs.

There are better ways to use your time IMO.

I just don't get affiliate marketing. What's the benefit of promoting something that 1,000,000 other sites are promoting as well? I just can't imagine that anyone, other than the parent company, makes any reall money from these schemes.

You would be surprised I think. The top eBay affilaite for example makes over $1,000,000 per month in affiliate income. eBay's top 25 affiliates make $100,000/month, and their top 100 make at least $25,000/month.

There are MANY people that pull in over $250,000/year from affiliate income, and they don't have "real" jobs.

I have a feeling that the top affiliate for ebay is probably a large portal, may be like Yahoo or shopping.

No, they aren't actually. :) They do it through a combination of PPC and natural search placement (for a LOT of keywords).

Wow, thank you all of you :-) I am learning so much here. :-) I read Rosalind Gardner's Super Affiliate Handbook and I am convinced that there is a lot of money in the affiliate marketing business. Right now, I am trying to get my footing.. too much info.. info overloaded..lol.. all those free subscriptions from all over.. u don't know what to read..

I think I will just slowly and surely start my first website.

Yes, Rosalind mentioned that one of her favorite affiliate programs is Ebay's. You would just incorporate it into your website? Or it's best to start an auction related site for it?? Thanks.

I am so glad I have found this forum :-)

Curious, if you would like, let me know which affiliate you would be interested in using, and I will use a different one on another website and you can compare to see results (eg. Amazon versus Ebay etc...) I just started looking at affiliate programs as a way of direct supplying customers instead of being the 'go to guy'. Basically, I am getting lazy.....
