Not sure whether they can see Google off, but at least it looks as though Yahoo will offer Paypal as a payment option for Overture, YPN etc.

Interesting read. What's more interesting is these major companies have to ban together just to keep up with google

First it was Yahoo to join with MSN... now Yahoo with ebay. Google already sucks now with the Big Daddy update, also the click rates from AdSense are not as high as they were previously. This is the right time for Yahoo to hit the nail!!!

Yes It was the best program, Google was the best search engine. It will fade away slowly, if it continues to do what it is doing to all of us, all webmasters are suffering from this. Less Impressions, Low CTR is a daily rutine now, those days gone when I use to make a handsome figure at the end of the day with adsense.

Adsense pays very little to us nowadays :(

Ebay went bust in Japan & Paypal is a concept that is Japanese compatible but NOT actually in Japanese. In otherwords people even in online marketing don't know what paypal is.

Yahoo Japan has the strongest presence in Japan if eBay launches a Japanese interface or even Japanese support of Paypal they stand to make a killing...

If you say it will fade away, how come everybody unites against them?
It doesnt make sense...

It all depends if YPN continues to pay high to their publishers.

I thought it was just me... are everyone else's CTRs lower now?

Ive seen a definate 0.5-1% drop recently (which is a lot of money)

Why is Yahoo a fix for this though?

Why is Yahoo a fix for this though?

Not sure but on basis of experience people have got from Yahoo it seems that Yahoo's rates for clicks are more.

that's surprising, I'm actually getting higher CTRs now than before, is this because there are more sites signed up on adsense now?

Good news. Though I like cashing my extremely high yahoo checks in front of hot bank tellers. :) Paypal would take away that pleasure :(

I think the point Imran is making is that, as Google's competition increases, they will lose more and more market share to other companies who are either providing a superior product or making it easier for their customers to do business. Google is still the clear #1, and probably will be for a while - which is why other companies are uniting against them. ;)

Exactly and with recent problems with the top search engine of the world, webmasters like me are facing lots of problems!

competition is always good to us, as a user.

Where is the competetion? as far as i know google is far ahead in online marketting/advertising. its others who have to catch up.
Competetion is good for every one.

Google is definitely far ahead, but I believe the competition will catch up eventually - it's inevitable. In this case, competition is good for everyone...except perhaps Google. ;)

Lets wait and watch, what happens. I will be glad if there is somthing and as big as adsense as an alternative for all of us + equally strong Search engine as Google.

Yeah, I agree with you 100%, and the best thing that could happen for both publishers and advertisers would be for someone to take a serious run at Google. I think the biggest challenge in working with Google right now is that they're not very forthcoming with information, which is certainly understandable considering their present stranglehold on the market. If another company were to start taking a significant portion of their business, in tandem with an open information-communication policy, it may help Google to "open up" a bit. ;)

I don't want to come across as a "Google basher", though. I give them credit for everything they've accomplished, and in a great many ways, they run a pretty tight ship - especially considering the size of the enterprise and the speed of its growth.

you run as an ppc expert. Some online offerings do better on overture than google & a vice~a~versa.

I am running 3 diff. client campaigns right now & even though i am getting a lot of CA ( click action) it's not converting to dollars.

yet the same load of keyword ads running in google are getting click to conversions.

for me personally, i hate the crappy accounting google has. yahoo is so meticulous detailed & superior I gag everytime i have to go into my google campaigns & look at the screen.

do you think that more men shop online with google than with yahoo?

My guess would be that, right now, more EVERYONE shop online with Google than any other search engine - at least in the US. May be different internationally.

Wait until Yahoo goes international. It will only take a while for thier payout rates to normalise with that of google. Right now Yahoo pays more because it can attract high quality USA dominated traffic from its publishers.

I think you're forgetting that Google doesn't give a toss if it upsets webmasters. We're not their customers after all, the users are.
Low CTRs an poor earnings are a symptom of surfers wising up to paid ads and the useless MFA sites that are created.
