Is there any difference between blog and site? If I install wordpress theme in a domain and maintaining the site and blog then is there any problem? Shall I not get that much value? Pls let me know if google gives different value to the blog and the sites?

I prefer a blog with wordpress .. it has so many plugins that can do pretty much everything you'll ever need :D
btw, regular website is just "dead" for me ;)

Well it depends. If your a SEO Master and at the same time a good Web Designer then no matter what site you do still google will like your site but you need a good content too. Even if you have blogs and doesn't have any contents then still google won't be interested with it.

Definetly a blog, if you update it daily or 5 times a week, it will ping google and with fresh content google will love you!

I seem to get a better long term response (in the serps) from internal pages on a regular site. I get a faster response (because of the pinging) from blog posts.
On my larger sites I put my large articles (750 - 1000 words) in the main body of the site. I will then write a second article (300 - 400 words) and put this in my blog linking to the larger one. Gets the best of both worlds, but take some extra effort.

There is no big difference between normal sites and blogs in term of link development.
