Ive been trying to buy a domain name for years now a specific one that is. It seems that it is owned by register.com which makes no sense to me because the domain is completely unrelated and has to do with a specific name that is not famous what so ever etc. I am wondering do domain companies really buy up domains if they think that someone will register them so they can profit from it down the road.

Meaning if i search for a domain and don't buy it will they buy it so I cant have it? lol

If it says that its owned by register.com usually it isn't ACTUALLY owned by register.com. Usually the reason this happens is when a registered owner decides to make a private registration.

PM me the domain name and I'll contact the owner for you or at least get you a contact phone, etc. Don't write the domain name on here or someone might pwn you! 0_o

I heard if it's reported to ICANN enough, the registrar can get into serious trouble...

I heard if it's reported to ICANN enough, the registrar can get into serious trouble...I was doing a search to buy a domain at GoDaddy.com way back when they were in start-up... I typed in a bunch of names I didn't expect to get... one word .com's... they were all taken except one that was something like... house.com or houses.com or trucks.com or something that's searched a lot... I hurried through the checkout but when I went to pay for it the screen went to ERROR 404... I refreshed the page and... ...POWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!! I checked the whois database and was like, "NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" The domain was just bought through a GoDaddy.com server... When I was checking out I noted no GoDaddy.com 'backorder... that happened to me with snowboarding.com... I felt like capturing the domain anyways... but, ahhhhhhhhh... that would have been messed up. After that I've been really stealth ^_^ about acquisitions.
