You mean cheaper or more secure?
Anyway, I highly recommend Name.com, cheap & reputable. Moniker.com is great for security.

I'm using Godaddy, Namecheap and Name.
Namecheap is good for its marketplace.
Now name.com is good for the low prices ($6/new domain)

I have to add that I prefer Name Cheap (http://namecheap.com) over any other that I have used. They are quick with their support and their interface for manging domains is very easy to use. I have been with them for a little over two years and I have been very happy after switching from GoDaddy.
Someone mentioned price is high, however, they are in line with most and cheap is not always better. Transferring to a new owner is so easy that that alone makes them one of the best. Also do not host the same place you have your domain name.
The article registering your domain name (http://seo08.com/2008/05/30/registering-a-domain-name/) may help also.

We use Name Cheap.
They are a very good company, support it also great.
WhoisGuard is also free for 1 domain, which is nice.

Probably tired of Godaddy's marketing dirty tricks, unfriendly control panel, average support and not that cheap prices
GoDaddy and Namecheap are within the range of costly registrars if you check my post with an overview on several popular registrars' pricing list. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=7910631&postcount=31
I tried Aplus.net a while back, its Control Panel is very unfriendly and lacks of features, not to mention how hard was finding the procedure to transfer domains away.

I'll suggest you to try moniker.com, name.com or mydomain.com. Three of them are my favorite. Moniker good in terms of security, name.com is cheap in first years. In addition, with coupon code " htmli.info " you can get 15% off from mydomain.com, which also good for bulk registration.
