Apparently it has stollen money yes. Thats why I only keep my balance maximum as £100. I don't want to risk more than that getting taken off me.

paypal wont steal your money... Scammers and bad people steal your money when they use paypal :P paypal takes a cut and "trys" to protect its buyers.

I second that. There is not a better payment processor out there that compares to Paypal.
Their fees are actually quite low compared to any other ecommere solution.

Paypal is by far the best payment processor for my type of dealings. Like a previously listed reply I only keep so much in there. You can't trust anyone these days with all the information being asked for stupid scams etc.
My grandmother uses paypal for ebay and it is simple for her. She's had two problems. One was her account was "hacked", actually she clicked an email and signed in and so it stole her info. All the money used in the account was returned.
The 2nd time her account information was changed (*sarcasm*go grandma!) her new home city was Hong Kong and country was China. Paypal wouldnt let her pay anything until everything was verified and fixed. Then there was a mix up and they charged her twice because she didnt have sufficient funds. They paid her back.
I think that only these really bad things happen to people who don't know how to fight back, or your bank isn't too smart. Usually my bank, Wells Fargo, worked out these problems within a day or two and everything reverted back to normal. I never had a suspended account in the past 6 years I've been with them. I've opened 3 accounts with them.

Yeah, PayPal is reasonable when you handle yourself in a mature way, and don't just be like "U guys are teh uberest meaniez!"

I've lost $800 due to paypal being a rubbish service. I would recommend moneybookers any day. More people on these forums should use it in my opinion - then at least it would become known to buyers/seller of the community.

If anyone thinks PayPal fees are too high they should try going to your local bank and opening a merchant account for processing credit card payments - and see how much that costs.
PayPal is a business, not a charity. They have operating expenses, etc etc. Most people seem to want everything handed to them for free, but life doesnt work that way. I would love it if PayPal reduced their fees, lets face it we all hate paying them, but thats the cost of doing business.

Paypal is a great facilitator and mover for ecommerce on the Internet. It would be hard to imagine ecommerce without the likes of Paypal and the rest. I do not think it sucks at all. A lot of issues are caused by client to client transactions, they are just a middleman.

There's less risk when buying rather than selling though, they seem to always take the buyers side in disputes

Yeah credit card processors are expensive usually its 2.7%(visa/mastercard) of the transaction plus a fee and a monthy subscription. At least for online use. Like Authorize.net for instance. They're expensive.

Paypal is these days necessity if you want to work online, despite they are not excellent service providers, there fees is too high and that charge back thing always keep a seller in doubt.
Paypal is good for buyers.
