Yahoo will crash and burn when Microsoft buys it ;) If Microsoft did not have a strangehold on the OS and Word Processing market, they would be nothing. They got into the game early, and people are used to their products, THAT is why the succeed. What has Microsoft produced in the last few years that has just boomed and become a big success? Most people have MSN Messenger, Internet Explorer loses more and more of a market share everyday, MS Money is a piece of shit, there just isn't anything that they have that is popular outside of the things that they've had for 10-15 years. Office and Windows are popular, and then the little other things they have (IE, WMP) are all because it's bundled into Windows. If Microsoft was going to make Yahoo big, then why is msn.com and live.com so shitty and have such low market shares?

When Yahoo was ruling internet, Google was no where. Nobody thought they will beat Yahoo one day. Infact google became popular when yahoo's search was powered by google. Google beat Yahoo by providing better service for users.

The other thing is that, when our perceptions change about these two companies. Google tries to monopolize internet like MS has tried to do the desktop. Even without our knowledge and controversial privacy issues they keep on mining our data. And we behave like kiddies and toys in the hand of Google, and even saying something like this will raise protest in various tones.
