I have new products released almost monthly. I cannot rely on along term SEO approach as by then the products I have will be out of date. So link building using the relevant anchor texts will just not work as there are thousands of products.
What SEO Strategy should I be using to ensure when ever new products come out, they stand a good chance of being indexed and well ranked quickly within Google?

You can do press release distribution and target a different product in every press release,
or you can also use article distribution.

Doing a new press release for each product will not be practical as i have at least 15-20 new products cming out each month! Each product gets a new URL too.

Can you advise me on the suggestion which some one else has given me which is as follows:
"1.) PPC
2.) Listings on applicable shopping comparison sites including froogle
Stay away from SEO on products that are short lived as 9 times out of every 10 products it will be too late ... & the client will simply start placing blame onto you. However, SEO should be performed on products which are stable availability throughout the year, which can be specific keyphrases.
They should also look into social media optimisation (a new thing coming out in our online marketing world), but this is rather more expensive."

Not sure, but I suggest you
Get lots of back links for your main domain. Try to increase your PR. This way, google will crawl faster and will index more pages.

Try Digg and write article to your product as well as linkbiating to your new product page and wait 30 minutes for search engines index Digg page. :P

yes i agree fully ....make your website globalised by :
1) Making press releases and articles,
2) Submitting in free directories,
3) Linking to high PR and related websites,
All the above if applied correctly, wud definately help in promoting your product and get among the first pages.
