Hi,I rank high on google for some of my core keywords, but i am nowhere in it for yahoo at all. What issue might be related to this? Belows are my hypothesis,

1. it is because spammy sites link to my website, so I've got blocked from yahoo.

2. Cloaking / lifting copy?

3. Duplicate contents?

4. All of these

5. None of these

What would be the best possible answers to this?

I have yet to figure out yahoo myself... I will say that they are less reliant on links as google is. I've heard that you can spam the hell out of your site with crappy links, and even get banned in Google for it, but yahoo will still love you for it... such a strange search engine IMHO.

I found that I was able to master Google long before I had figured out Yahoo.

Yahoo seems to rely more on "Quantity" of links, and they also (surprisingly) count some "no-follow" links in their Link Count at Yahoo Site Explorer.

Google seems to rely more on "Quality" of links (relevancy, high PR, etc).

So I decided to chart my course by adding more relevant links (Matching my key words with an "Anchor Text"), in the quantity desired by Yahoo.

The result was better exposure in Yahoo, and I suppose if the sites are good quality and relevant, the extra link juice won't hurt me at Google (where I'm already kicking @zz).

I think it has more to do with time. Yahoo can take many months before you start to get good traffic from them...sometimes over 6 months.

I'm having the opposite problem with one of my sites. Great find and rank on Yahoo, but nowhere to be found in Google.

Well for your yahoo problem I cna speak only from my experience. If you have many many links from forums and other such websites which are not necessary related to your niche you'll get good position on yahoo because you have many links.

Google wants good, related and old links. So you might not have good yahoo position because your overall number of links is lower than your compeititors even if you have better links.

The problem is we have really the 1st position on google, but nowhere to be found in yahoo. I do not think it is only linking issue.
Does yahoo hate us?
I really want to know what type of search algorithm they use.

To many incoming links pointing to your website in short time will lead your site to nowhere at yahoo with your primary keywords. but you will rank well on google. this is based on my experienced..

Yahoo is strange, and has not been as examined as Google. (You'll find few books wih the "get Yahoo #1 rankings" as their catchline). I've worked always adding new content and following a plan for Google that most of the time reflects on Yahoo.

It does count a lot of inlinks however.

I suggest that you use the Yahoo Site Explorer function to add a site map - just as you can do in Google.

Only my home page was indexed by Yahoo before doing this.

"If you have many many links from forums and other such websites which are not necessary related to your niche you'll get good position on yahoo because you have many links."

I think its not like this!
Why we do a lot of postings on blogs, its boost your articels what ever, so you can boost keywords also in google very fast, the blogs are not related the links are not old. Maby Yahoo will be a little diffrent fom this, is more a compeditor problem between the search engines. And its brings money for yahoo, some do more adviserting.

My experience, before I became for my main Domain powernetshop.at in google a DMOZ listening, the results was not so good us now. In Yahoo is a Yahoo directory, if you listen there, your ranking will be a lot better.

ranking no.1 in google. doesn't relates to yahoo as both of them have different database server so it is impossible to get no.1 in yahoo if you get in google .
similalry algorith to search is totally different in yahoo and google.

so,. you need to study well to rank in yahoo.

I don't get this Yahoo SE....

First of all, they don't even highly rate websites listed in their OWN directory.

Then, one page sales sites get to rank in first page of Yahoo...you know those sales letter pages...

Finally, if you're doing well with Google, they seem to penalize you in a way, unless you're big like Wikipedia. Seems to me their algorithm is designed to be at odds with Google.
