Hi I'm intending to buy a yahoo hosting plan considering it offers unlimited space currently, however i read that microsoft is intending to buy yahoo. The question is, is yahoo going to change drastically, or is it a simple change of ownership without change in the way things are run. I know that Microsoft is very tight on hosting space.

I suggest you consider buying hosting at hostgator.

Microsoft did make an unsolicited offer to buy Yahoo! and gave them a deadline that expired yesterday. The Wall Street Journal reports today that it appears that Microsoft's next step "may" be a hostile takeover... However, at this time it is too early to speculate "if" the two companies will actually merge and what that merger will look like.

what i'm concern is is the takeover merely a matter of investment or do they intend to change yahoo to their standards.

Even if Microsoft does by Yahoo its not going to get ride of its products and services especially ones that generate revenue for the company.

You will have a contract if you buy there hosting, so even if Microsoft buys Yahoo! they will have to keep your contract. Also it wouldn't make sense getting ride of the profitable things of Yahoo! However, I don't know if their hosting is profitable :)

I strongly suggest that you consider getting a different web host, I have heard many
negative things about yahoo hosting. I do not think anyone can honestly tell you
whether or not yahoo will change if Microsoft takes over, only time will tell.

I have used Yahoo hosting and its run of the mill hosting. You can get better hosting at a cheaper cost. As far as being safe, even if they are bought out by somebody their hosting and their other services are going to be intact at least for some time.

If microsoft buys yahoo, trust me, they'll buy their servers and plans too.
They buy the entire site, same staff same everythig, just new owner.
don't wory and take the plan.

all that would happen is that it would be live hosting!, or your money would go to someone else..

Once you pay for your hosting, that becomes a contract which Yahoo must honour whoever owns them. It makes no difference who owns the company, if you have a contract with them the new owners are legally bound by that contract. You can go ahead safe in the knowledge that you will get what you pay for...

It is official... Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer, had made of last pitch effort and increased the bid to $33 per share or roughly $5 billion. Yahoo! refused the offer wanting $37 per share. Microsoft has released an official statement on their press release page. Ballmer wrote of the Google/Yahoo advertising proposed partnership, "In our view, such an arrangement with the dominant search provider would make an acquisition of Yahoo! undesirable to us for a number of reasons..." He ended his letter to Yahoo's CEO, Jerry Yang with, "But, clearly a deal is not to be".

I think Balmer is working out his mid life crisis and will not pursue Yahoo any further although things could change

That will not affect your hosting since even if they buy they have to satifsy all the old customers. instead you can buy godaddy.com hosting plan.

Go through hostgator, it is a risk your taking trying to buy from a company who might be sold.

Have you heard the latest news? Microsoft walked out on Yahoo! and sent a letter to Yahoo! CEO explaining that Microsoft no longer wishes to buy Yahoo! because Yahoo! wanted to set up Google Ads at their website. However in my personal opinion I think the Google Ads offer was done deliberately by Yahoo! to get rid off Microsoft. Right now, I would not invest into any Yahoo! stock or securities. But this is just my personal opinion (so do not kill me if I am wrong:).

Plus .. Microsoft is not even going to pursue the hostile takeover option. Complete withdrawal all together.

Yahoo! hosting intuitive is easy to use. It has a set of powerful tools, extensive help resources and it is safe. There are other hosting plans and providers that are just as good and sometimes are even better. Check on some of them before making final decision. Good luck!

I think you have it all backwards mate. Microsoft is not the competition. Google is. :)
