I have a recurring problem using Dreamweavers built in FTP feature.

I have several sites set-up to use the built in FTP but it has a habit of periodically forgetting the server username and password that I set up.

Sometimes they are ok for several weeks and then other times it can work one day and then forget it the next. It isnt any particular site either, they all forget the username and password on a seemingly rotating basis!!

Anyone know a fix to this problem or should I just bite the bullet and install a dedicated FTP program?

There is a conflict with Microsoft Vista that causes that problem. You can find a fix on Macromedia/Adobe's website.

I have the same problem in Dreamweaver MX version. BTW this is very old version...I think this must be bug...if you have licenced version then just contact support. If you dont...I suggest you get newer version. The latest is CS3, previous DW 8.

Thanks for the input guys, I think I will probably just install another FTP client and be done with it!
