How to increase PR distribution. My website contains over 10.000 pages. What white methods can be used?
I'm using Google Webmaster Tools - Crawl stats (provide information on crawled pages of your site) to see this.

Thanks in advance.

what are you really after? PR or traffic?

I ask because the 2 are not synonymous....eg. you can have a PR1 or PR0 but you're site can still have lots of free traffic...

My observation was when they first started, the default for an old established domain is PR5, but such distribution became 4 nowadays. I think it has to do with change of algorithm in Page Rank.

You want to increase your Page rank?

If yes, then build lots of back links.

OK,most of you don't understand what i'm trying to say. Let's continue with those who do.

Anyway, PR distributions means:
These statistics provide distribution information for pages we have crawled for our google.com index. The PageRank distribution reflects all crawled pages in your site, not just the home page.

buy 10,000 pr4 links and put a different link on each site.

Yes, that is an option.

What about a "tag cloud" on the home page, which is PR4. All other pages (subpages) are PR0. A tag on the home page would lead to a subpage, which would, I presume, have then at least PR3, and link on PR3 page would lead to the final page. Some bloggers use this technique and I was wondering what Google says about their PR distribution? Does this work and what are the disadvantages of doing this?

What I am trying to achieve is that that 10.000 subpages would rank higher in SERPs.

How do you deal with PR distribution, if you do at all?

I would not recommend getting backlinks from a tag cloud page because that's not
a high quality backlink. You should try to get backlinks from well respected sites,
or relevant sites.

Page rank and serp's are not related in any way, you can improve your serp's by
building backlinks through article submissions and blog postings on relevant blogs.
If your subpages are well optimized and you build quality backlinks your serp will
improve regardless of the page rank of your subpages.

And or you can do press submissions on sites like prweb (http://www.prweb.com). It's not inexpensive but it will help increase the page rank of the pages you point to over time. The less expensive or no-expense options (http://www.prlog.org/10067312-promomanagers-extends-promotional-offer-on-recycled-and-organic-promotional-products.html) don't allow backlinks that contain keywords making their usefulness limited.

You could also take a look at the article submission sites.

Tag Cloud is good if your site is a blog.. It is also called as link bait.. You are linking to your inner pages.

Instead of having tag cloud, try to comment to sites that have high PR and also try to convince them to exchange link. :D
