Anyone else getting that? telling you they were selective and feel their website can add value to your directory?

These are not random submissions but sent through the contact form.

Yes, had a few in the past couple of weeks, wanting listings for their technology-related sites. I think it's a *hint, hint, free featured listing for me* straw-style scenario;)

Every once in a while - I look at them if they are non profit charity organizations - if they are commercial sites I just hit the delete button.

I think it's just another kind of spam!

The ones im getting are decent sites too, are they like the classy spammers? :)

Thing is i can see myself accepting at least one of the sites too but fearful it will open the floodgates.

I got that several times, and taken for a ride once. Suppose to friendly exchange of links, but the guy removed my link in his site a month later without telling me.

Now I take only paid/sponsored link

Is there any contact form for phplink directories? How can they contact you? Or you are using other directory scripts?

classy spammers

Hehe :D

I've had a few of these, generally hit the delete key before getting past the third or fourth word. I wouldn't consider them "classy" in that half of the time they use the contact form on my free directories too.

They obviously have some software with an imported list of directories and they hit the contact forms on them all with a politer than normal email.

If you accept even one, I am willing to bet your directory would be moved to the top of that list and you'l end up with more people contacting you for submissions than actual submissions.

Yes, if its not already in your script it can be easily added.

I simply delete all such requests. These appear to be automated messages. How can I tell? Because some of them have stupid statements in them like "How can I get my site listed on this page?" Well, if they actually visited the site, then they should know the answer: PAY ME!

:D

Hmmn, I tend to get these types of letters with long-winded explanations of how useful their site would be to my site's visitors. Guess I'm on a different list than you all are. :D
