On Wednesday Adcenter opened for business to everyone. You can sign up at this link: https://adcenter.msn.com/
I believe it costs $5 to sign up and you need a valid credit card. From what I am hearing, it will be awhile before MSN comes out with an AdSense counterpart, it first has to build up plenty of advertisers. ONe of the big features is that you can tweak your ads to be shown by day, time and even geographic region. Hope this info is helpful.

How f*cking Mickey Mouse!

Microsoft adCenter does not currently support the web browser you are using. Please sign in using Internet Explorer 6+. More about system requirements

They sure are a bunch of assholes there at Microsoft.

Will the ads only ahow in IE 6+ as well?!!! Outrageous IMO to not support the latest and greatest FF.

In Opera I get this:

- The certificate for "adcenter.msn.com" is signed by the unknown Certificate Authority "Microsoft Secure Server Authority". It is not possible to verify that this is a valid certificate

Anyone else with FireFox getting the browser incompatibility warning and no signup form? Seems odd they'd not support FF but allow Opera...

Doesn't work with FF here either

They have not supported any browser other than IE 6. IE 7 doesn't work either, ironically. Apparently more browser support is in the plans, but I don't have any idea on the timeline.

Mac users are excluded too, even with the IE for Macs version.

I only saw a signup for advertisers. What is the URL for publishers?

There isn't one. No publisher program has been publically annouced.

They have announced that they will begin testing their contextual advertising this summer. There could be a publisher program - ContentAds - possibly in 2006.

I guess my answer would have been different had I waited another hour to respond, lol.

The adsense type program, will probably come later on in the year. There is a program in the works.

It works on Win XP with the latest Opera browser though...

Pretty Mickey Mouse IMO.

This probably isnt the right forum, but this has just launched, the rumors about their AdSense type program opening in June look to be true.

this AdCenter seems pretty interesting, all this is going to create a huge competition over both publishers and advertisers !
Hope we'll be the winners after all

This program has been going for some time. It is a competitor for Adwords, not Adsense. An Adsense type program would almost certainly pay less at this time if you go by their current ad rates.

Now that they're charging for keywords, one has to figure that they're going to adopt some of the google/yahoo algo's that prevent new sites from ranking too quickly. I hope not, but I'm willing to bet that's the case, but I hope I'm wrong.

I think there will be some sort of sandbox very quickly.

Alberta
May 5th 2006, 1:16 pm
I don't think you have to worry about MSN changing their algo's overnight. With time I'm sure that MSN's results will move towards that standard that Google has, but it'll take time.

It's probably Opera mimics IE as it was earlier

As noted above -
Macintosh? What's that?
M$ dropped all support for the Mac at IE version 5.2.3

So, straightaway, they are willing to kiss off that particular 5% of the market (Apple), without even batting an eyelash.
And all the FireFox users - make that another 15%.
What kind of strategy is this?
Force everybody back to PCs? Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-HAH!

I enrolled yesterday and the interface was pretty flaky. It appears much more stable today. I was able to get my keywords approved fairly quickly (within 1 hour) but I thought the CPC were pretty pricey.

Here are some examples:

body detox @ 2.72
detox body @ 4.75
drug test detox @ 8.23

Those prices are insane.

I bet they'll not be approving that niche soon, you know what I'm about...
