I am registered on 100+ forums, and I was wondering if I added my blog link to my signature on each forum, will that help with back links and traffic in anyway?
A forum I used to be a member of had a contest for inbound links, which required us to register at other forums and put the link in our sig to win, I have a saved list of each forum I joined, should I log in and switch the links or is it not worth my time?

Yes, every link counts. Most forums have links that are "follow" etc so it'll be good and definitely will bring you traffic. :D

All links are worth something. However forum links are not really that strong for page rank. I guess they all add up though.

actually the forum sigs work great. I have posted several hundred times on digital point and when I checked backlinks to my site I noticed that some of the links DID have pr. What happened is that I replied to the topic early when it started. Over time it got popular, people linked to it and eventually the page rank got boosted.

Yes every link counts as a backlink. I think it would be best to find comment early on a great topic or start a thread and keep it going. Those will probably weigh the most when it comes to SEO. Also it is probably good to have many different forums pointing to your site verse just one or two. BTW thanks for the link. :)
