The greatest american ever was Benjamin Franklin. He is the guy that showed the world that you don't have to be born rich to become rich. He is the very reason this country even exists the way it does.

My guess is that most people or going to guess Abraham Lincoln or George Washington, but I agree Franklin was right up there and so was Thomas Jefferson. I like the ones that were statesmen but ALSO inventors and innovators.

I'm going to have to go with Benjamin Franklin. He had his hand in everything and shaped the beginings of this country and during the Revolutionary War, he used his ambassador persona to gain the funds we needed to win. Its a shame he was never a President.

George washington from what i studied in my true american history class in college was the first terrorist using( if my memory isnt completely gone yet) terrorist tactics against the french to pressure them to leave teh louisiana territories. Oh and also andrew jackson and his whole cabinet were on morphine lol
