View Full Version : $100.00 Header/logo design contest *72 HOURS ONLY!*

I'm looking for a logo for a new site that's in development. The site is a web 2.0 style, clean, drupal driven site. The logo is to be clean and simple and delivered to me in .jpg and .psd formats.
Logo name: My Garage Build
I'd like to incorporate a set of garage doors in the logo as seen here:
http://actiongaragedoors.net/images/photo_garage_door_1.jpg
Please create your own doors, do not steal this picture as I'm not the owner!
The header design should be similar to this one http://rucku.com
http://rucku.com/graphics/header.jpg
I'd like the garage doors to be positioned where the "RuckU" football is positioned, with the garage door image extending "beyond" the header just like the rucku football image. The logo "My Garage Build" can either cover and extend to the right of the garage doors OR sit to the right of the garage doors. Where you see "grass" on the rucku site, I'd like either shake shingle siding or a brick look in a nice neutral color. For navigation, please create five buttons and position just as on the rucku site:
Home - Profile - Messages - About - Log Out
Best of luck! I do reserve the right to extend the contest if a winner is not chosen. Please do your best! I really want a logo ASAP!

OK, here is what I started.
Please let me know if I am going in the right direction.
The images are all made in vector format. I made them myself.

Great start and I appreciate your quick mock up. I have edited my OP to make my needs a little more detailed. I'd like the garage door image to sit inside of the header and extend beyond the borders just a bit, just like the football on rucku.com.
Also, if you could make the transitions more seamless I think it would look better. Does that makes sense?

collegerut - I like the concept but can you make it a little cleaner and maybe try a grayscale version?
simplyg123 - Good start but maybe try taking the frame off of the garage doors. Also, clean up the words for a more professional look.
TDGraphics - Good start but take another shot based on my feedback above to the others.

You want the whole image in gray scale? or bricks and garage?

OK, thanks for the submissions so far. Everyone has submitted a quality design.
Now it's time to shake it up. Take what I've asked for and THROW IT OUT THE WINDOW (not literally, I may still pick your design!).
What I'd like you to do is create the header if it WERE YOUR WEBSITE. You guys are more creative than me, so show me what you'd do if it were YOUR SITE! Keep in mind that the site is for garage builders to showcase their work and network with each other.
Let's see some OUT OF THE BOX THINKING!:D

I do like this one. Can you change the border on the garage to a stained look? Also, I'd prefer a more standard font. And lighten up the overall look vs the dark shadows.

Good start. Can you make the garage more of a wood tone with stained doors? Also, make the bricks a brown or red color. Overall, you're looking good and I like the concept. I do want to stick with more earth tone, neutral colors though.
Thanks!

Very nice, you're in the top three at this point!
How about a background with a few tools (maybe outlines)? And/or switch back to the bricks or siding for a background.
I'd also suggest an antique stained look to the doors vs. the sleek colored look. Does that make sense?

Guys and Gals, thanks so much for the submissions. Unfortunately, I can't pick a winner and feel that there is still something missing.
The good news? I'm going to start a new contest at 99designs and give away $200.00 vs. $100 :)
I'll post the link here (if it's allowed) when I start it, otherwise just keep an eye out.

why not just continue the contest here? Many designers see the 72 hours and skip it by, if time is not a big deal, im sure you will bring out a few more of the pros

I've decided to expand the scope and attract a bigger audience. If you'd like to review the new contest, you can see it HERE (http://99designs.com/contests/6511)
The new prize is $300.00
