What Do You Think Of Blog Contests? [I need some help, too!]

There are a bunch of blog contests on at any given time and some can reward you really nice prizes, but is it worth making a post about a blog contest on your blog? In short, does dedicating a post on your blog to a blog contest make you a sellout?

I love contests and often blog about contests and run my own. We also have great tips for hosting contests (http://blogaboutyourblog.com/category/contests/) as well as the top 20 contest blogs (http://blogaboutyourblog.com/2007/11/19/top-20-contest-blogs/).

If I come across a blog that has the last few posts as nothing by posts about other people's contests, it's just not a good look. It you are gong to post about a contest to enter it, make sure you keep up wit your own content for heaven's sake.

Concept of running contest is, I guess, of John Chow. Running a contest is good as you get many back links in short period. Google can't even prove this method as a illegitimate to get back links either.

Well, having a contest doesn't make you a sell out... it's like giving your readers an extra incentive to help you out, in return, they will get a chance to win some great prize(s).
