Is it hard to get listed in the Yahoo Directory?

Yahoo directory only accepts paid listings as of 2004 or so, don't remember the exact year...it's listed in the member's panel.

The hard part is reaching into your wallet to get the credit card to spend $300. However, they do accept free non profit listings.

I think the status of those is worse than DMOZ though, they'll just sit in a queue for an eternity.

Ive always found it impossible to get listed..... because i wont fork out $300 for a listing that may potentially be rejected. :)

If you have a regional website, like "indian food" then you may get into the in.dir.yahoo.com in a slightly faster time and the review is also a bit polite:p the dir.yahoo.com really impossible these days unless you have the $$$

anyways, try to submit your site in your regional yahoo directory and you may be listed a bit faster!;)

[Note: it used to happen a long time back, not sure if its still that way]

Yeah as stated above you won't get into the Yahoo directory unless you pay.

Pay the company and get listed. - Simple as that. I know someone who has successful submitted about 10 commercial websites (paid) and all have been approved. :)

I was under the impression it was almost impossible to get on to yahoo directory and was not sure if i was mistaken for another directory.
Now it is clear that many people think it is hard.

I got listed for free however i am not sure how both of my websites got listed for free. So i have just PMed a member who had replied on this thread to see whether or not they know if i have been listed or not.

If it says on this website when you check a domain that it is yahoo listed does that mean it is in the Yahoo directory?

Sometime people get confused between directory listing and general search result. Like if someone search its website in directory and if yahoo do not find any result from directory then underneath it says web result and shows the site under web result. People sometime thinks there website is listed in directory. I don't think anyone can be listed free of charge in yahoo directory.

oh well great that you got listed for free, also if your site is showing in the yahoo directory then you are listed if it isn't then you are not I dont think there is much to it...by the way if you find the trick of how to get listed let me know ;)

Thanks yeah thats what happened, however yesterday checkpagerank.net said i was listed :/ but when i looked it showed a yahoo answers link with my link on one of the answers. how ever today its gone
