Hi folks.

I'm probably going to get attacked from all angles because of this blog post :p but I feel like I do have to share it with some of you. Many of you are already realistically aware of how it all works when it comes to making money on the Internet, but hopefully this will bring others down to earth if they want to make a quick and easy buck on the net.

I've just finished writing a blog about how the concept of making quick and easy money online is flawed (http://www.scdmarketing.co.uk/blog/?p=16). I've seen so many threads and posts about these kinds of methods so I feel like I finally had to expel some myths.

Have a read and post some comments on the blog if you would like to provide some input.

Edit: aj22's thread here (http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=668456) is just spot on. Have a read and take notice of his advice.

Good and honest article in the blog! But even everybody has some doubts about all those get-rich-online methods, they will probably be lured to try them than to follow a wise advise not to do it. If you write a book how to earn 500 USD monthly on the internet in 6 months, I doubt whether there will be much interest and sales, but instead book about how to earn 100 000 usd /month in 7 days, which is obviously not realistic, is likely to bet better results. My point is that if there is a notion that it is easy to earn money on the internet, the supply of this myth just follows the ever increasing demand.

You're both so damn right. I am trying to build a 2nd tier tree on some affiliate networks and I actually get quite good amount of subaffiliates here on DP. I contact them and try to give them some tips and advices on how they can earn money on the particular network. Most of them don't reply at all. I tell those that reply that they need to start reading the free guides, which will take time, but it's worth and they will learn a lot about affiliate marketing and how they can promote products online. I give them some practical steps which worked for me - read the guides, buy hosting and domain and create your own review website. I tell them that it's not going to be easy and quick - it will take time to start getting traffic and earning money.

Most of them don't reply after that or ask me if direct linking with adwords to the product website will work.

I think they all expect quick cash and don't want to spend time on reading and learning how they can earn money online. So they spend their money on $10-$20 e-books that promise them that they can start earning thousands in the next few days....and GET SCAMMED. I've never spent a cent on such e-books.

I started with affiliate marketing in June and I've made $450 per Month in August and September selling herbal products. Hope it will get event better in the following months, but I know that I shouldn't expect thousands per month in the first year. Affiliate business as every other business takes time to take off.

I really spend a lot of time on this, maybe 8-10 hours a day. I have a part time job and I have a lot of free time.

But I'm not a good example on efficiency - I spend a lot of time on checking stats and such things. I'm sure it can be done by spending less time efficiently.

"but any decent amount of money will not be quick and will take time." I totally agree! You have to continuously work on creating valuable content and drive targeted traffic to it. There are hundreds of ways to make money online. Adsense and affiliate marketing is one of the easiest ways. Easy does not mean becoming a millionaire overnight without doing anything but it is easy to start an online business with small investment & grow it.

Good Blog. People think that IM is so quick and easy. I am going on 2 years, and just now stepped it up to Full Time.
IM is like reading - You have to take your time, because if you go to quick or jump around you will miss the important lesson.

I think it's pretty simple. Is it possible to get rich quick and easy online? No. However, it is EASY to make your living online, it just takes time and dedication. Most people aren't interested in putting any actual work into it, they just want to get something for nothing. That basic concept of greed/laziness is what keeps the "biz opp" niche in business.

Personally I feel like this forum's greatness weakness is the utter amount of BS that is allowed to freely be posted here. 99% of make money ebooks are garbage, and even the few that actually have useful information probably don't contain any tips or ideas you couldn't find for free by simply spending a little time searching/reading.

It's interesting just to read the comments here regarding all these hyped up products. I've been around the Internet for a few years working online and the first year went through all the ridiculous facades that are out there. While we all know what to expect, it's unfortunate that the cycle will continue as long as there are people out there wanting to make money online.

On the flipside there are ways to make a lot of money in a short amount of time, but you have to invest a ton of money in order to do it. This is kind of where the 1% comes in that really do it. I find it interesting to see big Internet gurus do so well on their books because their other gurus have built lists of millions of people. I'm getting off track here, but had to throw that out there. Sometimes they aren't even as good as they're advertised.

Agreed, I should have clarified. Quick and easy profit comes with a significant cash investment that you have to be prepared to make (or risk, if you don't know what you're doing).

Yeah, I must say I spend a lot of this time on reading more about affiliate marketing - here on DP, some other forums, many articles with tips about affiliate marketing...etc. You need to keep learning and catch the news in the business to stay up-to-date :)

Yeah, it helps if you keep reading and educating yourself, but it's also important to keep in mind that by the time someone outlines a great idea or method in detail, they have probably already exhausted it to some extent. In this business, you have to constantly be evolving and creating original methods to really succeed.

i never say its EASY. but the key is that i have fun doing what i do, be it designing pages, writing blogs, checking the forums etc...its FUN and i like it. Many people assume there is a miracle-method which makes them millions without doing a thing.....but the winner here is only the marketer who SELLS the "miracle method" <- he is the one becoming rich :)
