For blog networks like blogcatalog.com, mybloglog.com, etc. if I run a site with 5 people working for me is it alright for us all to have individual profiles or do they frown on that?

If you all work on the same blog, I don't think that you can...when you submit your blog in your profile, isn't for blogs that you own?
If so, then only one person can claim it.
Besides you don't need you blog in 5 different profiles, just use the 5 people to network within the communities.

Assign one to each community...you should have them pretty well covered with that kind of man power.

Now if you are doing something like WordPress MU, and running *individual blogs under different subdomains, then yeah, you can have separate accounts.

The blog network you're doing it on.

But I think hmansfield is right, it would be better if we split up and each worked a different social networking site. Can anyone recommend the best ones for generating traffic to a blog targeted at a college audience?

Facebook is huge with that demographic. Also check out Orkut.
