Site Pro News published and interesting article today, May 26, called How to Use Your Google API Key as Your Secret Weapon (http://www.sitepronews.com).
Unfortunately they don't mention Shawn's application in the article. Prehaps we should write them and straighten them out.

Oh well... everyone else in the world knows about it. :) 10,491 registered users on the keyword tracker (http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/keywords/), and 2,151 sites using my search engine script (http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/search/) as of right now.
Wonder what Google thinks about a single IP address making so many API queries per day across tens of thousands of unique keys. I'm guessing they already know what I'm doing, so no biggie.

Its pretty interesting to think about- you probably had a few moments of fame in their offices ;)
ALSO: "And since the licensing of the API restricts the creation of tools for commercial use, these resources will not cost you anything but some well-invested time. In the next few minutes, you'll learn how to use this information to your advantage."
Doesnt rusty brick sell this same tool? or am I mistake?

This also makes me wonder how much research they did for the article, not finding the ultimate way to use the API.

So Shawn, have you ever had any problems with google blocking queries? I have been trying (not very hard) to figure out google's clock with regards to the 1000 query limit. Any insight you care to share?
As for RB's tool...trying to figure out if there is a problem there with G's TOS. Is it RB's software that you are paying for and then using your own G key to give it data to interpret. Meaning, G intended to prevent people from signing up for a key with xyz.com and then charging people for information about 1000 other domains. Where RB's software allows you to use your key to collect data on whatever you choose. not sure if this is making sense.

No, no problems with Google blocking queries for me. But I'm not violating their TOS, so why would they?

I don't know why they would. I guess there is a little google paranoia in me about submitting 1000's of queries from one host/IP. Doing anything in large volume scares me for some reason. Guess it is not "large" from G's standpoint though

I agree that the problem is understanding exactly what Google call a "query". It was discussed in length in another thread and I was satisfied with the answer. Maybe some oneelse can post the link to that thread here for us again.
All I know is that I'm not tracking that many site or that many keywords, but I exceed the 1,000 query limit if I try to do two tracking passes per day.

Umm.. so he is illegally charging people for the product then or does he have a way around it?

Well, I know the details, but I won't go too much into it. I'll let him explain it (if he wants).
But to sum it up... Google does know about his service.

Interesting- not that interested in the details, just wondered if he *was* doing something shady, why he'd be so public about it- question resolved.

I provide Google's raw results for free. I only charge for the storage, and analysis of the data. I am not charging for the data itself.
Make sense?

There are other sites that offer services similiar to digitalpoint, but they aren't as good. I used to use gorank dot com, but found this service is much better so I dropped them on their head.

You dropped them on their own head? how? (Sorry, just watched Bad Santa... ignore me. hehe)
