I went with register[dot]com's free domain for a year service and what do you know... it's actually free.
Now I just gotta see how I could set the site up.
It's theebooksgalore[dot]com what do you guys think?
Basically your home for affiliate ebooks. Or something like it.
I'm very excited.
Any input from you guys would be great!
Thanks,
Jason

Free domain? I wonder how.
Any domain can shine if your brand/market it right. However, I must also say that it wouldn't have any resale value yet.

Nah, I don't want to resell it.
This will be my first e-business.

probably for verification and to deter people from abusing the offer.
I registered a domain through this offer a month or so ago and there hasn't been any charges on my cc. They also try to get you to pay for whois privacy for $9 but I just unchecked it. Renewals are about $30 so make sure you transfer your free domain before register renews it.

Best thing is to develop into it into a minisite or blog, update it daily with real and interesting content, get lots of good incoming links to it and decent traffic.

Register.com used to have a $200 transfer fee. I do not know if they still do. Be sure to carefully read the terms and conditions, particularly if you plan to put time and/or money into developing the domain.
Remember that each domain costs them $6.44 per year and they are not in business to lose money.

even i have got one free domain from them........ but the thing is they have called safe renew feature in which it says it ll auto renew your domain name when it will about to expire..... so they ll charge $35 next year as there is no option to turn safe renew off :( only thing u can do is that transfer your domain to other registrar 3-4 months before expiration time.... but i have not much idea about it.... just that i know you have call them to get authorization code for domain transfer.....
