$40 Logo Contest for aerial photo/video company

$40 Logo Contest for an aerial photography and aerial video company that my friend is starting up. The domain name is (copter Eye dot com). He uses an RC helicopter (similar to the one pictured below) to take aerial video and photography. The site will showcase past work and provide pricing and information…

I imagine the logo incorporating an image or sketch of the RC helicopter along with the domain name but I will leave it up to you to come up with something creative! You might also consider incorporating an image of a video camera, some film, or something related to video and photography…

The contest will run until we have a suitable logo (hopefully within 1 to 3 days). I will need the PSD or AI file in hi res so that it can be blown up later.

20 minutes flat from the moment I posted... that’s impressive!

It’s a good start! I think a different color scheme would look better (maybe black, white and neon green for the heli). I would also like it to be a little more telling of what we offer, so I was thinking maybe you could turn the circle behind the heli into a camera shutter or somehow incorporate a video or photography related image... Also make it a little more glossy with more of a web 2.0 feel...

Overall, great first submission!

Thanks for your submission. I like the simplicity and the colors but it needs to be more telling of what to company offers. I also think the heli graphic would look better if it was head on, or from a different angle (as opposed to the side view). Also, maybe try a different font...

Ariestoteles:

- I like the film strip but can I also see a version with a shutter behind the heli? I posted an example of a few shutter images below... Maybe you could make the shutter circle a bit bigger so you can tell what it is...
-Also, can you make the body of the Heli a little bit more narrow so it looks more like the RC heli in the picture above?
-Please also ad the camera ball (or a video camera) hanging of the bottom of the heli again, like you had it in the first draft...

Feedback for Neticule:

I do like the helicopter image but I am not a fan of the font. Perhaps change the helicopter to a neon green and black and try a different font. (I like the creativity with the "eye" but lets leave it out for the next draft...). If possible it would be great to also incorporate something related to photography or film in the logo as well.

Feedback for Neticule:

Starting to look really good! I really like the filmstrip. My friend (the owner of the Heli) has some feedback:

1) Please change the font again to make it more blocky and masculine…
2) Move the name to the top and put the film strip below the name and make the film strip a bit larger and wavy.
3) Perhaps the C could somehow be incorporated into the copter tail? (only if you think it would look good)
5) Make the Heli brighter neon green (like the picture above) and give it similar markings as opposed to the black swoosh across the side.
6) Raise the blades a bit and make the landing bars bigger as well.
7) If it’s not too much trouble make the camera ball into an video Camera or something that people will recognize easier…

Looking good. I think the film strip was more telling than the shutter so let’s go back to the film strip. If you could just change the background color (perhaps white or light grey) and also make the heli look a little more like the one in the top picture? If it could be a bit more of angled profile (like the heli you had in your portfolio) that would be great! Thanks for all your hard work!

OK Guys... This should be the last round of feedback because we really want to pick a winner today! I doesn’t look like there are any new contestants so these are the top three finalists. One of you will get $40 and the other two will get $5.00

Neticule: I love the concept and layout but the overall design looks too unpolished and hand drawn. We are really looking for a clean professional (vector style) graphic... Also, please try a different font again, the current one is reminiscent of a logo for a toy and we want to make sure we come across as professional…

Ariestoteles: Love the clean crisp design. Could you please get rid of the dark green in the filmstrip and make the filmstrip black, grey and white (I think this will help make the heli stand out more). Please also make the ball/camera hanging off the heli a bit more pronounced. Lastly, if possible please change the shape of the heli so it looks more like the heli in the picture on my first post... (Maybe just squeeze the bottom up).

Brahman: Great first entry! Let’s focus on the middle logo. I love the look of the filmstrip and I really like that you made the O into a shutter! Please make the heli neon green and make it look more like the heli in the picture on my first post. Please also add a camera ball or video camera hanging off the heli (like the one in the picture)… In addition, please make the text larger and move it outside of the filmstrip.
