I want to get started

I learnt a lot of books and PHP and know how to edit ready mad scripts but till now i don't have any confident about developing new script although i am myself confident that i can use nice codes for the script

What am i lacking and from where i will need to start?

I'll tell you a secret, the ONLY way to learn coding is to start coding ;)

My suggestion is to think about some project you can use for fun, maybe a phone book application or scheduler and etc'. It's easy to find some daily thing you can use.

Then sit down and start programming it from scratch, a few pages, multiple actions and everything you can think about. This way you'll learn the small things you skipped when editing ready scripts.

Hope this method will help you, it sure helped me.

The fun part will be looking at this code in a year after many projects and realize how much you have progressed. The more you code the better you get.

thanx a lot guys...I think i was missing fun part as said by mulari as well thanx pipsbank you understood my psychology,yes I am afraid if i get into programming as my profession coz here is no scope of programming and taking projects from freelance website doesn't make enough moey for me...I think so but i love programming

You can always write a complex project and earn much more money than doing those freelance jobs. So start with a small project and it will grow while you learn.
