Have you contacted Yahoo to ask if they are alright with it? Just curious to see if they were easy to work with. Seems they would be to able to get any fairly large site that has been AdSense only in the past to use their service.

Lol :D
Just a random question that came to mind.
Wouldn't the revenue per user within the sharing scheme go up if Yahoo! ads were chosen over AdSense? I say this because some of us (including me) don't have Yahoo! accounts and can't even get access to it. So people who post in threads are more likely to get cash from the ads due to the lower number of people in the scheme?
I dunno if I made myself clear but sorry I'm pretty sleepy right now...

I personally experienced much lower CTRs with YPN due to the less relevant ads than with google. If YPN is showing relevant ads, then the best option would be to geotarget YPN to US and show adsense ads to everyone else and optionally add on a YPN revenue sharing option to the usercp.

DP cannot make more from Yahoo due to alot of non US based ppl. Yahoo pays only for US clicks/hits whereas Google pays for all countries. The only way more money can be made here with Yahoo is by displaying Yahoo ads to US ppl and Google to all others. I've seen this on some sites which definetely makes alot of sense.
Alot of ppl are complaining about Yahoo paying less than Google. These guys dont really know that Google pays for 100% clicks you get no matter wht part of the world they come from whereas Yahoo pays only for US clicks.
Further, people having only US based sites have seen tht Yahoo infact does pay much better than Google, keeping in mind they are comparing Google clicks from US vs Yahoo clicks.... which is right.

Fahd
Apr 12th 2006, 12:52 am
I think everyone knows that YPN CPC rates are higher, but YPN still earns most people less than adsense because of low CTRs on YPN ads due to YPN ads not being very targeted.
Most of the people reporting higher overall earnings with YPN are those people employing deceptive ad placement to increase accidental clicks.

Yahoo ads will suck as long as only us publishers will be allowed. However it's your forum and you can do whatever you please with it :) Anyways, I'm not winning that much from this forum, maybe about 3 dollars a month.
Probably your results will be biased because most ads are new and people will check out the ads, so you shouldn't draw a conclusion after a couple of days.
How are you going to prevent people from outside US click on your banners, Geo Targetting ? You know Yahoo banned publishers because they did not have enough percentage of US visitors...

Hmmm, no smiley in that post so I don't know whether you intended that seriously or not.
If it WAS a serious statement, no - it's not nearly long enough. Even two weeks isn't long enough to give you reliable data on income, although a couple of days is plenty long enough for me to decide that Yahoo needs a lot of work on its ad targeting.

If they are fairly close, then I agree that 2 days is not long enough. Some people have said that Yahoo earns twice as much as Adsense though and whether that's true or not would be clear after only 2 days.
minstrel
Apr 14th 2006, 1:06 pm
No. There could be lots of extraneous reasons for Yahoo outperforming AdSense in the first two days, not the least of which is novelty or curiosity about the different syle or colors, or curiosity about the types of sites advertising on Yahoo for people not familiar with their ad network. I think you'd need at least a month before any clickthrough and income comparison data would be trustworthy.
