Here is the download:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/ie/ie8/readiness/Install.htm

Brave enough to try?

I haven't done so myself yet. First reports are that it overwrites existing IE6/IE7 installations and that it has an IE7 switch button.

I may try it later on an old laptop.

Works for me. It does have a IE7 switch. If you use the devoloper tools that come with it, you can also see IE5 view.

I'm glad IE is going to shape up to be a standards browser, but I will stick with my trust Firefox.

Read PC world article on this. They are slamming it.

The review process was bad. I read the article and they were discussing how IE8 crashes with the Google & Yahoo toolbars. They should have tried using the Browser as is and then going on to toolbars etc. They barely spent anytime discussing the actual browsing aspects of the browser - visit various websites and give opinions on looks and quirks etc.

I fortunately don't use toolbar crap, but there has been one issue for me in regards to email. When I check my yahoo email it gives me a crappy error code about it not supporting this browser. So much for Yahoo usability greatness. My G mail worked fine.

Still the same old IE browser to me. I expect them to make it faster in term of loading and everything but no, not this one. I think I'll stick to Firefox at the moment.

I removed IE7 from my new laptop so I'm not going to try out IE8 this time. If I hear really good things I'll maybe try it as I like to have two browsers on my computer for various reasons.

Cool... Another IE version to write more conditional statements to import additional css files with fixes for it.

As if 5.5, 6, and 7 weren't enough of a pain in the ass already.

still seems like a memory hog. I need to be able to have 3 windows @ 10 tabs each without lag.

Well, is this going to display CSS more like the other browsers now? Cause otherwhise it's just pain in the ass for the developers to have yet another browser to...

Seriously hates Explorer, casue it seems to eat memory, it usually seem to slow down the computer while using it.

Hooray for Firefox and Opera :)

Did you download the right one. They have different versions depending on your operating system.

yup, i rrun XP SP2 and i dled the right version, i think it has somethign to do with having multiple IE's installed, because my IE6 has the IE8 homepage, but my IE7 doesn't :S
