Hi,

I have a domain which someone wanted to buy it for 6K. To me it is a big amount of money. The domain is only 3 months old and have an alexa ranking of 20K. I have few questions regarding this:

Just wondering how the process of selling of domain would be with godaddy? Should I transfer the domain first before getting the money?
How does the payment usually done? Paypal?
Anything I miss out?

When dealing with higher amounts of money, I recommend you to use an escrow service - preferably escrow.com.

Just a few things to watchout for..

1. Do not order an appraisal if the buyer insists (most likely appraisal scams)
2. Always use escrow.com or sedo.

In an escrow/sedo process the payment and domain transfer is handled by them and hence you cannot be cheated.

Hope these tips help you and good luck with your sale.

You initiate the transfer through GoDaddy after Escrow.com
or Sedo receives payment. When using the Escrow services,
they will assist you with the transfer details.

For large amounts, payment is usually through wire transfer

Don't use wire transfer or PayPal - like others have stated, an escrow service is the best option for payments usually over a couple hundred dollars (depending on if you know the person or not).

Some of the most popular escrow services are Sedo and Escrow.com. Personally, I prefer Moniker's escrow service. They have a lot of experience with domains and in my opinion they are most secure. Good luck with the sale!

Wire trasfer is safe can't be chagedack but it's more unlike buyer will agree to send first 6k thru wire, use a escrow company like sedo, moniker or escrow.com,avoid paypal.

Definately get a decent and reliable appraisal before you do anything
