"All .ASIA registrations must include at least one contact who resides in one of the .ASIA countries"
I'm not from Asia, but i'd like to try a few premium .asia.
for example, to try buying "buy.asia", i can put as "Technical Contact" one friend's address in asia, and as administrator my european / us contact?
so the contact in asia won't have any responsibility / right to that domain, but anyway i will be able to buy that .asia.
I'm not sure it is that simple, maybe i miss something.

Are you going to try and win some names at the auction? I heard that there are a few registrars that will allow you to register .asia names even if you're outside of Asia.

I will try at Godaddy.
The point is "at least one contact must reside in asia", if i ask someone from asia to be my tech contact can he steal my domain, or can he have responsibility about that name?

If you are unsure then i would suggest you to go with one of the registars who offer the service to be your asia contact (seen it for $10). That would be more safe than having a complete stranger to be the contact.
I have been living in asia for 2 years myself and have friends here who can be my contact as i was a little unsure about the definition of "reside"
To live in a place permanently or for an extended period.

I lived in asia too, but the people i know there are not familiar with domain names, so if they can have any responsibility or problems because of that i will avoid using their names.
I mean just a telephone call or email about that domain is a problem.
The registars you saw offering that service do ask 10$ for each domain name or for a group?

$10 for each domain, so with a lot of domains it can get quite expensive.

You need to have a contact in asia. i.e a person needs to be an asian resident to be able to register the domain either for himself or for someone.
They also need verification documents so there is no way around the procedure.

okapi most registrars provide you with an Asian contact if you do not have one. So you can register a domain without anyones help.
The whole process though, indicates that the sale purpose of .asia is to extract money way beyond reg fees.

It seems they are still avaliable, have you made a bid for them in the landslide period? Then there will be an auction between all persons going for those domain names between the people who wants to register them.
Which means, probably not a smart idea to post them on a forum like this :)

asiadns.com doest it, but they ask 18€ (27$) per year. I'm looking for something cheaper.

If more than one person tries to register them yes, which is very likely when posting them like this on a forum :)

its better for asia registry people IMO :p
because all premium names will be in auction by the registry it self rather than premium domain catchers :D
