Hello,

I was hiring a person to finish up my forum, he said this is not possible because he needs the FTP access, is that right? I need more smilies and avatars to my forum, I have only the administrator access, but not the FTP access, can't this be done in the admin area? I asked my contact where my site is hosted, he said that FTP access can be set up only by setting up my forum as a subdomain. Can you please explain this to me and what is the best way to handle this. Thanks a lot...

Best regards,
Einar

Anyone? What is the best way to handle this? If you can help, let me know.

I'm pretty sure that with vbulletin you can upload smilies in a single zip file thru the web admin area. You can probably find the answer for your particular situation by going to the support forum of your software.

you should be able to access ftp without setting up a subdomain.

Depends on which forum software you are running (on whether or not you can do this via an admin panel).

RE: FTP access with a subdomain
That would only be needed if you wanted to give a user limited access to your site's account. You could restrict this user to one subdomain this way... such as your forum.

Otherwise... with FTP access to the domain... one would be able to upload whatever is needed for a website.

I still need help with this...upload smilies and avatars to my forum and change colors (hack). I do not have the ftp access...$100 for the person who can do this asap...

Einar

I can try... but not sure how... unless we have some sort of other access available (your hosting panel?)

And I won't charge you that much either.

PM me if interested.
